L.A.: SINATRA THEMED ONE MAN SHOW IN PALM DESERT

L.A.: SINATRA THEMED ONE MAN SHOW IN PALM DESERT

John Ciccolini will present his cabaret show "Frank Sinatra Screwed Up My Life" at THE ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATRE at the JOSLYN CENTER THEATRE (73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert, CA - TKTS: 760-325-2731 - ) on Saturday, August 18th at 8:00 pm. Growing up in Newark, New Jersey is tough enough but when you are a scrawny, horny, near-sighted Italian teenager it is even worse. And when the chicks don't dig you, there is only one man you can turn to for romance advice and guidance - the man and the legend himself, Frank Sinatra - who also happens to be from New Jersey. So when the ghost of 'Old Blue Eyes' shares his ring-a-ding-Rat Pack rules of how to get the dolls with his biggest fan, it takes him on a journey of awkward, hilarious and sometimes raunchy, self-discovery in the one-man music-comedy "Frank Sinatra Screwed Up My Life". The show is filled with classic Sinatra tunes, sung in Sinatra style by a self-confessed Romance Addict played by John Ciccolini who was nominated for an LA Weekly Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Solo Performance after its extended run at the Hayworth Theater in Los Angeles. John's theater credits are extensive but many will recognize him from numerous television guest appearances on Raising Hope, Castle, No Ordinary Family, Dexter, Justified, ER, The Sitter, Dirty Sexy Money, Las Vegas, Everybody Hates Chris, Veronica Mars, Joey, Becker, Boston Public, Live From Baghdad, The Division, N.Y.P.D. Blue, and Push, Nevada. There is a $10 cover.

URGENT MESSAGE FROM CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE

As you have noted from the past few CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE newsletters, the city of New York has ordered that we vacate our basement apartment in Jackson Heights by the end of August because they have deemed it unsafe (only one exit). A tragic fire in a basement apartment in Queens a few months ago brought about a re-inspection of all such dwellings over the past few months - and now we need to find new housing immediately. This comes at a time when our income from advertising sales is always at it's lowest (which is why we have always scheduled membership renewals in July and August). And at a time when our bank account is at its lowest as well.

I need to raise at least $2000 in the next two weeks to cover deposit/security on a new space - and more if we cannot find a furnished apartment. Right now we have less than $400 on hand. So your membership donation (new or renewal) this weekend will truly be appreciated.

Memberships start at just $10 - which includes a discount card for select cabaret events and a subscription to our exclusive MEMBERS ONLY newsletter. All levels and benefits of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE membership for 2012-2013 can be found on the website CLICK HERE

NYC: BETTE AND BARRY GO BACK TO THEIR ROOTS

NYC: BETTE AND BARRY GO BACK TO THEIR ROOTS

Bette Midler tribute artist Donna Maxon revisits the glorious 70s with her new cabaret show BETTE & BARRY: BACK TO THE BATHHOUSE co-written by Maxon and director Michael Schiralli atTHE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909 - ) on Wednesdays, August 15th & 29th at 7:30 pm. Maxon stars as the Divine Miss M, performing a hilariously bawdy act of tunes, monologues, and jokes. The show co-stars musical director Fonda Feingold as Barry Manilow, and the duo proudly pays homage to the partnership that Midler and Manilow began at New York's Continental Baths in 1970. BETTE & BARRY: BACK TO THE BATHHOUSE is a theatrical imagining of current-day Midler and Manilow returning for "one more show, for old times sake" at the legendary Continental Bathhouse. Incorporating songs from throughout both Midler's career (Wind Beneath My Wings, Delta Dawn, Friends, and more) and Manilow's (Copacabana, Looks Like We Made It, Mandy, and others), the banter between the pair touches on highlights of their career, including a touching reminiscence of friends from their bathhouse days lost to AIDS. While Maxon has a long career as a Bette Midler tribute artist, this show marks the theatrical debut of Fonda Feingold (a woman) as Barry Manilow. There is a $20 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
