NYC: JOHN MINNOCK RETURNS TO THE METROPOLITAN ROOM
New-breed jazz and blues vocalist ,John Minnock will perform at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Saturday, August 22nd at 9:30 pm, with an energetic and entertaining hour of Jazz and Blues. John is joined by his trio: pianist Bill Duffy, bassist Carlos Mena, and drummer Pablo Eluchans. John Minnock gained popularity as a successful singer in Boston, and is now a regular performer at the Metropolitan Room. Combining great musicality and showmanship, John presents a lively evening of Jazz, Blues, Funk and R&B. Rapidly building a large New York following, and with a voice that recalls B.B. King, Billy Eckstein, and George Benson, John often branches out to jazz improvisation and scat singing, with interesting facts and history about the songs. A classically trained musician, John's vocalizing recalls the likes of Billy Eckstein, George Benson and B.B. King. He often branches out into jazz improvisations and scat singing, and adds interesting stories and facts about each the music. His wide repertoire of song renditions spans classic artists like King, Ruth Brown and Bill Withers to contemporaries such as Sara Bareilles, Amy Winehouse and Sam Smith. Performing new material from her EP Entitled "Heart of Ballads" along with some of your R&B favorites. Known to many as "Ali", she has been singing since the age of 4, Knew she wanted to be a star growing up. Mother Patricia Oliver and Father Stanley Caldwell (Both Singers) brought her up in church singing. At one point in Ali's life gospel music and church was all she knew ... until she grew up and became a woman. Ali started to broaden her horizons and step out of the tiny box she was stuck in for a while and experienced what they call R&B SOUL MUSIC. Once she discovered this genre, she took it, and ran with it in her own way! Listening to and admiring artists such as India Irie, Beyonce, Brandy, Chaka Khan and Girl Group Destiny's Child, Ali was able to identify REAL SOULFUL MUSIC. The definition of MUSIC became important to her. Landing in many great situations through her music career journey such as Girl Group "Xhale" who has opened up for BoyzIIMen, Ray Goodman & Brown, Patti Labelle and many more. Though the group thing didnt last quite that long. The series will also celebrate Don't Tell Mama on its 30th anniversary. Multi-award winner Tracy Stark will be at the piano along with Marco Brehm on bass. Maria Ottavia has been a professional singer since she was a teen. Her credits are long and diverse. Her beautiful soprano has been praised by critics'. Marcus Simeone has risen to become one of today's most versatile singer/ songwriter/ recording artists on the club scene today. NYC: RITA RUDNER MAKES 54 BELOW DEBUT
Rita Rudner makes her
54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) debut on Thursday through Saturday, August 20th through 22nd at 7:00 pm! A house-filling favorite in Las Vegas since she opened in June 2000, Rudner is known for her epigrammatic one-liners. Over the course of a fourteen year run and 2,000 plus shows, she has sold one and a half million tickets and become the longest-running solo comedy show in the history of Las Vegas, even being named Las Vegas' Comedian Of The Year nine years in a row. Rita Rudner moved to New York at the age of fifteen to become a dancer on Broadway. She appeared in several shows, including the original productions of Follies and Mack and Mabel. It was while in Annie on Broadway that she began exploring the comedy clubs of Manhattan. In the early '80s, Rudner took a full-time leap from chorus lines to punch lines and was soon a regular guest on both "Late Night With David Letterman" and "The Tonight Show." Rita's first solo HBO special, "Rita Rudner's One Night Stand," was nominated for several awards, as was her eponymous English BBC television show that later appeared in the USA on A&E. Rudner's two one-hour specials for HBO filled Carnegie Hall in New York three times and the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles twice. In 2008, Rita Rudner: Live From Las Vegas was PBS's first ever stand-up comedy special. Rudner is a frequent collaborator with her writer/producer husband of twenty six years, Martin Bergman. The couple's first play - Room 776 - ran as part of the 2008 season of the Las Vegas Little Theatre. Their second play, based on Rita's first novel Tickled Pink, premiered at the Laguna Playhouse in April 2012. In 2016 Rita will again perform at the Playhouse in a new play, Act Three by David Ambrose. There is a $55-$110 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JOE'S PUB PRESENTS ELIACIM
Eliacim, singer, songwriter and musician, will perform at
JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Saturday, August 22nd at 7:30 pm. He was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. From an early age his passion for music was present. He first started playing various instruments in the church where his father was a minister and grew to be part of the choir there. In 2006 he met producer Dan Warner, which began a friendship that inspired Warner's desire to guide Eliacim, serving as mentor and assuming a leading role in the first steps of his career. In 2010, Eliacim made the decision to move to the city of Miami where he joined acclaimed producers: "Los Gringos" Dan Warner & Lee Levin and collectively they decided to undertake the arduous process of recording what will be his first album which was slated to be released in early 2013, under his own label: Beautiful Cinco Records. Eliacim is creator and composer of all his songs. Songwriting is Eliacim's life and truest talent, which immediately became evident when signed by Sony / ATV Music Publishing in 2011, to commercialize his compositions and additionally expand into writing sessions for various artists (including: Luis Fonsi, Amaury Gutierrez and Samo, of the succesful group: Camila). The debut single from the first winner of "Idol Puerto Rico", which Christian Pagan, titled: "Desde Que Se Fue", was an Eliacim composition which, upon its release last September charted for several consecutive weeks on the charts of the most important source of the industry, Billboard magazine.
