NE: DARYL SHERMAN AT CHAN'S JAZZ. WOONSOCKET

NE: DARYL SHERMAN AT CHAN'S JAZZ

A sparkling mainstay of Manhattan nightlife, jazz singer/pianist Daryl Sherman makes her annual Rhode Island homecoming appearance on Saturday June 2nd at 8:00 pm with an all-star band at popular jazz venue CHAN'S JAZZ (267 Main Street, Woonsocket, RI - 401-765-1900). Daryl recently performed at the New Orleans French Quarter Festival where she debuted her latest CD, Missississippi Belle: Cole Porter In The Quarter. Having played Cole Porter's vintage Steinway at New York's Waldorf-Astoria for many years, there can be few songbirds better suited to interpreting his masterful words and music - this time with a swinging Crescent City slant. The month of July has her performing all over England plus Wales, Scotland, Berlin and Holland. Special guest at this Chan's Jazz appearance is internationally acclaimed trumpet star Warren Vache, whose melodic, swinging delivery has made him a favorite with luminaries from Rosemary Clooney, Benny Goodman, Bobby Short to Annie Ross. Also joining in the festivities will be Daryl's trusty cohort Boots Maleson, one of New York's most in demand bass players and Boston's heralded guitar ace, John Baboian. In keeping with family tradition started by trombonist dad Sammy Sherman, Daryl's cousin Dave Sherman will guest on trombone and there's always a surprise or two in store like RI favorite songbird Jean McKenna O'Donnell. Call for cover/minimum information.
