CABARET IN NYC: KIM SMITH WITH NOVA: AN ELECTRO-POP FANTASIA AT JOE'S PUB
Australian singer Kim Smith performs his debut electro-pop album, Nova, with an electronic band atJOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555 ) on Tuesday, May 28th at 9:30 pm. Featuring the singles "Jealous," and "Never Ever," Nova's sound has been likened to the Pet Shop boys, George Michael, Kylie Minogue and Robyn.Kim Smith will be joined by Musical Director David Aaron Berger, Stephanie Brown, Steve Dawson and guitarist & backing vocalist Silya. Australian Kim Smith is an emerging electro-pop singer, and award winning cabaret performer, known for his Weimar-era inspired works that juxtapose authentic musical material with stylistic takes on current popular tunes. His cabaret programmes, Misfit and Morphium have performed regularly in New York City at Cafe Sabarsky at the Neue Galerie, Joe's Pub at the Public Theatre, the Laurie Beechman Theatre, the Due Theatre at DMAC, and Bard Spiegeltent at Bard College, while also touring Australia - presented at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival (2010, 2012), The Festival of Voices, Slide Bar and Lounge, Chapel Off Chapel, the National Gallery of Victoria, and Smith's cabaret birthplace, the Butterfly Club.
