Internationally renowned singer, recording artist, and humanitarian Dionne Warwick and the legendary musical theatre performer Carol Channing will be honored, along with 16 other members of the New York cabaret and jazz community, at the 26TH ANNUAL BISTRO AWARDS, which will take place on Tuesday, April 26th at GOTHAM COMEDY CLUB (208 West 23rd Street, NYC - 212-367-9000). Ms. Warwick, a major force in American contemporary music and an international star, now approaching her 50th year in the industry, will receive the Bob Harrington Lifetime Achievement Award. Ms. Channing, an entertainment icon and star of stage, screen, and concert venues, will receive a Special Award for her ongoing commitment and dedication to the performing arts through the Dr. Carol Channing & Harry Kullijian Foundation for the Arts. The evening, under the direction of Edie Cowan, will once again be hosted by comedian and actor Jim David, and will feature performances from most of this year's Bistro-winning artists. Jazz legend Annie Ross continues her unprecedented, record-breaking, multi-year run at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440), every Tuesday night in April at 9:30 pm. Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

The Tony Award-winning actress and singer Melba Moore makes her debut appearance at THE CAFE CARLYLE (35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-744-1600 ) in an exclusive two-week engagement from Tuesday, April 26th through Saturday, May 7th. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday at 8:45 pm with a second show on Saturdays at 10:45 pm. In the premiere of "Forever Moore" the four-time Grammy-nominated Moore traces a remarkable musical journey reaching into the past and leading to the present. Moore, who has had numerous chart-topping hits throughout a long career, currently has a new number one on the Billboard R&B charts. "Love Is," from her new CD of the same name, has been holding on to the top ranking for four weeks and counting. In "Forever Moore" Moore reaches into the American Songbook for some early influences, passes through her hit-making 70's (she was a Best New Artist Grammy nominee in 1971) and opens it up with a treasure trove of seminal R&B touchstones, culminating with her current hit "Love Is." In the course of the evening Moore pays tribute to Ella, Lena and Aretha, the sophisticated ladies whose profound influences on her art and career she both acknowledges and celebrates. This will be Weinstein's first major NYC cabaret run. A featured soloist, Weinstein has played at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Blue Note, Birdland and Wolftrap. The 2011 Nightlife Award winner has collaborated with such jazz luminaries as Les Paul, Scott Hamilton, Dave Frishberg, Annie Ross, Dick Hyman, Jessica Molaskey, and Bucky Pizzarelli. Jim Caruso presents the 30 Year Reunion Celebration of the Broadway Opening of Duke Ellington's SOPHISTICATED LADIES, featuring original cast members and the Duke Ellington Big Band at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080 ) on Monday, April 25th at 7:00 pm. This event is part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series. Scheduled to appear are Adrian Bailey, Priscilla Baskerville, Hinton Battle, P.J. Benjamin, Mercedes Ellington, Ken Hanson, Bruce Heath, Terri Klausner, Michael Lichtefeld, Paula Lynn, Frank Owens, Valarie Pettiford, Wynonna Smith, Ty Stephens, Faruma Williams, and surprise guests. Sophisticated Ladies is a musical revue based on the music of Duke Ellington. After fifteen previews, the Broadway production opened on March 1, 1981 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where it ran for 767 performances. The original cast included Gregory Hines, Judith Jamison, Phyllis Hyman, Hinton Battle, Gregg Burge, and Mercer Ellington. The show was nominated for eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and won for Best Actor (Battle) and Costume Design (Willa Kim). There is a $40-$50 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
