SF: FIRST EVER MONTREUX BAND REUNION CONCERT

Playing together for the first time in 20 years, the Montreux Band performs atYOSHI'S (510 Embarcadero West, Jack London Square, Oakland, CA - 510-238-9200) on Saturday, January 14th with sets at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. The band revisits the music that helped define Northern California in the 1980s. Darol Anger (violin), Barbara Higbie (piano), Mike Marshall (mandolin/guitar) and Michael Manring (fretless bass) were in their twenties when they created a new genre of music that rocketed from their Live at Montreux recording into heavy rotation on VH1, 10 recordings for Windham Hill Records, and 12 years of international touring. They are virtuoso instrumentalists and accomplished composers who have played with everyone from David Grisman and Stephan Grappelli to Santana and Bonnie Raitt. They have all gone on to successful solo careers. NVOH Artistic Director Peter Williams helped reunite the band for this historic concert. There is a $25 cover.

Vocalist Bobbe Norris and pianist / arranger Larry Dunlap have performed together throughout the US, Europe and Japan since the 1980s. They have received high praise in the fields of jazz and cabaret from reviewers throughout the world. Larry's accompanying and arrangements are innovative and swinging, while remaining true to the song. Besides performing with Bobbe, Larry was stateside pianist for Dame Cleo Laine for over 30 years and has has backed Mark Murphy, Sheila Jordan, Gerry Mulligan, Art Farmer, Ernie Watts and Bud Shank, to name a few. She will be joined by Matt Baker, piano; Daniel Lipsitz, sax/ flute; Benjamin Servenay, bass; Nick Wright, drums; Jimmy Lopez, percussionist; and special guest Vocalist Phil Levy. Dee will be including songs from her latest CD "I'm Here Now". Dee has performed several sold-out performance's in Moscow, Russia at the UCC Jazz Club, Puppet's Jazz Bar in Brooklyn, and many other venues in Europe, NY and Ct, and NYC. Crooner Joel Ginn returns to the THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursdays, January 12th & 26th and Saturdays, January 14th and 28th, all shows at 7:00 pm. Joel's new show, Singing Bing, is based on songs introduced and covered by legendary singer and performer, Bing Crosby. Bing's crooning technique had a great impact on the music industry for most of the 20th Century, and his style will continue to influence singers and songwriters for centuries to come. Singing Bing is directed by Lina Koutrakos, with musical direction by Jeff Cubeta, and features Matt Wigton on bass. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Cabaret favorites Tommy Femia and Rick Skye have teamed up for another evening of "Judy and Liza Together Again" at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Saturdays, January 14th & 28th at 8:30 pm. They are joined by Ricky Ritzel (as Mort) at the piano. These MAC Award winning performers (Best Impersonation) will pull out all the stops, singing classic solo's, parodies, duets and just plain whooping and hollering by the greatest mother/ daughter team in show biz history. Tommy Femia is a 7 time winner of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) Award for his brilliant portrayal of Judy Garland in "Judy Garland LIVE!", now in it's 20th season at Don't Tell Mama. He has also starred in "Whoop-de-doo", "I Will Come Back" and, most recently, "Norma Does Men". Rick Skye is best known for writing a string of outrageous comic revues including "The Flip Side of Neil Sedaka", "MaCabaret - a tabloid fable", "The War of the Mama Roses", "It's Madame with an E" and the International hit - "A Slice O' Minnelli" for which has enjoyed successful season's in Covent Garden, at the Apollo Theatre in London's West End and at the Dublin Theatre Festival where he received the Award for "Best Achievement in Performance". There is a $22 cover charge and a 2 drink minimum.

He is a well known TV and Radio Host, an entertainer and a walking encyclopedia of music. He swings in many languages but his his greatest passions are The Great American Songbook and the Russian Retro Music. Oleg happily sings both of them. Oleg is one of the few Russian performers who proudly promotes American music on Russian Radio, TV and on stage. His TV shows have included many legendary singers such as B.B. King, Connie Francis, Paul Anka, James Brown, Andy Williams, Gloria Gaynor, Donna Summer, Shirley Jones, Jerry Herman, Engelbert, and more. Lapis Luna brings you the captivating jazz of the 1930s, '40s, and '50s with a classical glittering sound.
