CABARET PICK OF THE DAY

There are some great cabaret events tonight, but here is just one chosen by CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE for your special consideration.

NYC: ANITA GILLETTE & HAROLD SANDITEN CELEBRATE IN "HAROLD AND BROAD"

Anita Gillette (multiple award-winning Broadway actor and beloved star of theatre, film and television), and Harold Sanditen (international cabaret favourite and charismatic emcee in London's West End) present their new duo show "HAROLD AND BROAD" at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Saturday, December10th at 7:00 pm. Well, for starters, they're both celebrating major birthday milestones this year. In their delightfully fun new show, HAROLD AND BROAD, these two charmers team up for the first time to perform favourite songs from their respective birth years ("Just In Time," "Let Yourself Go") along with gems by Bonnie Raitt, John Lennon, Jerome Kern and Kurt Weill, reflecting the wisdom gained from age and experience. HAROLD AND BROAD is a very funny, wise and moving celebration devoted to the enduring bond of friendship. Directed by Barry Kleinbort, in New York the show features musical direction by Paul Greenwood, Ritt Henn on bass and John Redsecker on drums, while in London it features musical direction by Noam Galperin, Robert Rickenberg on bass and Paul Cavacuiti on drums. Anita Gillette received both a MAC and BISTRO Award for her debut cabaret solo show, AFTER ALL, and has continued to work in the cabaret world ever since. She may be best known for her film work, appearing in such films as MOONSTRUCK, SHALL WE DANCE, THE GURU and BOB ROBERTS, or possibly her theatre work, having done fourteen Broadway shows such as CHAPTER TWO (Tony nomination,) CABARET, THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG, MR. PRESIDENT, ALL AMERICAN, BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS, Los Angeles Civic Light Opera shows KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY with Burt Lancaster and THE GREAT WALTZ, which she recorded for Capital Records. She recently played the female lead in A CONFEDERACY OF DUNCES at the Huntington in Boston. She is also familiar to television audiences from such shows as 30 ROCK (Tina Fey's mom,) QUINCY, MODERN FAMILY, BLUE BLOODS, LAW & ORDER, CSI, and many game shows including PYRAMID, PASSWORD and MATCH GAME, to name a few. Harold Sanditen was born and bred in Oklahoma, but has lived in London since 1987. He is probably best known as the host of the very popular "Harold Sanditen's Open Mic Party" at THE CRAZY COQS in London, their longest running show. Since bursting onto the cabaret and jazz scene in 2008, he has devised and performed six cabaret shows in as many years, (THE SECRET OF LIFE, LOVE EXPOSED, THOUGHTS 'ROUND MIDNIGHT, SHADES OF BLUE, FULL CIRCLE and FLYIN' HIGH,) released three CDs (TAKING FLIGHT, SHADES OF BLUE, and FLYIN' HIGH,) starred in CAFE SOCIETY SWING in the West End and toured to packed houses from LA to Paris. Prior to singing, Harold produced theatre for 20 years, from the smallest fringe to large scale West End, including LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT (starring Jessica Lange, Charles Dance, Paul Rudd, Paul Nicholls and Olivia Colman,) FALLEN ANGELS (starring Felicity Kendal & Frances de la Tour,) UNSUSPECTING SUSAN (starring Celia Imrie – London & New York,) A DAY IN THE DEATH OF JOE EGG (starring Clive Owen) and THE BOYS NEXT DOOR (starring Steve Guttenberg & Kathy Burke).
