One of the most versatile and talented singers and songwriters in today's Latin and US music world, Jon co-wrote on #1 hits "Coming out of the Dark" (Gloria Estefan), "Bella" (Ricky Martin), and "Baila" (Jennifer Lopez). He has starred on Broadway in Grease, Cabaret and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and has been a star judge on Latin America's American Idol for 3 years. For his show, Jon will feature music both from his newest Spanish album, Otra Vez, as well as from his new English Album, I'm Never Too Far Away, produced by Rudy Perez. With only one album, he became one of the biggest adult contemporary artists of the '90s, selling over six million albums worldwide. Nora McCarthy will be appearing at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - ) on Wednesday, June 20th at 9:30 pm. Ms. McCarthy has thus far had a very productive and significant musical career. A poet and a songwriter in addition to being a highly original singer, she is an important force in the advanced New York jazz vocal scene since 1996 when she recorded her first CD, red&blue. Her collaboration with alto-saxophonist Jorge Sylvester began in 2001 and the synergy of their near telepathic level of communication has produced several unique and groundbreaking projects: A Small Dream In Red, an innovative voice and saxophone duo; Conceptual Motion Orchestra, a 20-piece all original music ensemble; and the ACE (Afro- Caribbean- Experimental) Collective, a sextet of improvising musicians consisting of: alto saxophone, voice, trumpet, piano electric bass, and drums. The ACE Collective performs original, new and experimental compositions that draw from the Afro-Caribbean Diaspora, jazz and the free music art forms. Concerts for City Greens, the free outdoor concert series that brings the sounds of music to the heart of Midtown, presents its second show of its fifth season on Wednesday June 20th at 6:30 pm at Tudor City Greens. Jazz legend Annie Ross continues her unprecedented, record-breaking, multi-year run at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440), every Tuesday night in June at 9:30 pm. Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. NYC: WEDNESDAY! FREE OUTDOOR CONCERTS RETURN TO TUDOR CITY GREENS! - COMEDY TONIGHT w/ A SPLASH OF JAZZ

Concerts for City Greens, the free outdoor concert series that brings the sounds of music to the heart of Midtown, presents its second show of its fifth season on Wednesday June 20th at 6:30 pm at Tudor City Greens. (Rain date: Thursday June 21st at 6:30 pm) with special guests TBA. The Windham Hill recording artist, Sean Harkness (2012 MAC Recording of the Year), and the 4-time MAC & 2-time Bistro Award-winning big band innovator Terese Genecco return as series regulars. The concert's featured instrumentalists are the music directors Bill Zeffiro, David Caldwell and Jeff Cubeta on piano, and Tom Hubbard on bass. All are series regulars. The Broadway and cabaret veteran Raissa Katona Bennett is the evening's host and producer. The concerts take place at the South Park of Tudor City Greens Park (between 41st & 42nd Streets, and 1st & 2nd Avenues). Featured this month are several of NYC's popular commedians. "Comedy Tonight... with a Splash of Jazz" welcomes these featured guests: the jazz-jesting bandleader Joan Crowe; the MAC and Bistro Award winning story-singer Faye Lane; songwriter, singer and author Bobbie Horowitz; the singer-songwriting duo of Ritt Henn and Mary Liz McNamara; Comedy Central's Stone and Stone; beloved cabaret raconteur and dandy Sidney Myer, and the molten-voiced jazz heartthrob Gregory Generet. 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) has announced that Broadway legend, two time Tony Award winner, Patti LuPone has been extended for an additional week.Patti's cabaret act, "FAR AWAY PLACES" will play seven additional performances from Tuesday, June 19th through Saturday, June 23rd at 8:00 pm. There will be a special late night performance on Thursday, June 21st at 11:00 pm. Backed by a five piece orchestra, Ms. LuPone's all new show will feature a mix of contemporary songs from the world of pop and Broadway and a selection of Paris and Berlin Cabaret Songs from the 30s and 40s. LuPone's 54 BELOW engagement, "Far Away Places," is conceived and directed by 54 BELOW's Tony Award-winning creative consultant, Scott Wittman, with arrangements by Joseph Thalken. Andrea Martin, origionally scheduled to perform this week, has had to postpone her appearance because of illness, and the club will rescheduling her performance at the earliest possible opportunity. Their show "Loving You" showcases a dynamic mix of traditional standards, contemporary pop and classic musical theatre, Broadway star couple Jenny Powers and Matt Cavenaugh sing a fresh refrain of that oft-repeated, yet slightly mysterious and nearly implausible cosmic chorus that is love and marriage. The evening is directed by Joe Langworth and musical direction by Greg Jarrett. Powers and Cavenaugh will lend their voices to such classics as "The Best Is Yet To Come," "I Can Cook Too" and "Something's Coming". Sonny Paladino will be musical director. Kushnier is currently starring in the Broadway production of Jesus Christ Superstar in the dual roles of James the Lesser and Priest, as well as understudying the roles of Jesus, Judas and Pontius Pilate. Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch will be performing swinging standards at the legendaryBEMELMAN'S BAR at the CARLYLE(35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-570-7189) every Sunday in June from 9:00 pm until midnight. The two performers, who have performed extensively on their own, gained national exposure together as the host and musical director of the wildly popular open mic, Cast Party, which celebrates talent every Monday at Birdland in NYC, and tours nationally. Caruso and Stritch will be joined by bassist Steve Doyle. Jim Caruso recently made his Broadway debut alongside Liza Minnelli in the Tony Award-winning smash hit Liza's At The Palace!, singing, dancing and celebrating the music and arrangements of the late, great Kay Thompson and the Williams Brothers. For his nightclub work, Caruso has won six MAC, two Nightlife and two BackStage Bistro Awards for his sold-out New York shows at Birdland, the Algonquin Hotel, and Arci's Place; and has also performed in clubs in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Palm Beach Hotel and London. Billy Stritch is one of the premier singer-pianists on the New York and national jazz and cabaret scene. His most recent nightclub act "Billy Stritch Sings the Mel Torme Songbook" earned rave reviews from the New York critics. Stritch has appeared in cabaret venues across the nation as well as concert performances at the London Palladium, NHK Hall in Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro's Municipale Auditorium. Songstress Sandy Bainum returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, June 17th at 9:30 pm with her show entitled Sandy Bainum: Something to Sing About. The performance is a celebration of positivity, featuring songs that are engaging, entertaining, and ultimately uplifting. The eclectic musical collection brilliantly weaves together the melodies of several decades and musical genres and features tunes by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Dorothy Fields, Stephen Sondheim, Irving Berlin, David Friedman, Randy Newman and John Sebastian. Joining Sandy is her award-winning musical director, Lanny Meyers. The show, directed by Bruce Kimmel, treats audiences to such varied fare as "Cockeyed Optimist" from South Pacific, "Lion Tamer" from The Magic Show and "Pure Imagination" from Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," to name just a few. And what evening out in New York would be complete without an ode to the boroughs, this one by Irving Berlin, "A Beautiful Day in Brooklyn," from one of his rare unproduced musicals. Sandy made her introduction to the New York cabaret scene last year in Excuse My Dust, a cabaret show inspired by the life and writings of Mrs. Dorothy Parker, followed by Great Songs Seldom Heard, after a successful debut at Washington's Signature Theatre.
