Francesca Amari brings her brand new show, "YOU MAKE ME LAUGH: A Love Song to Gilda Radner" to the M BAR (1253 North Vine Street, Hollywood, CA - 323-856-0036 ) on Saturday, April 9th at 8:00 pm. The show was commissioned and debuted at a 10-day long festival in Grand Rapids, MI, called Gilda's LaughFest, which featured such greats as Betty White, Bill Cosby, Margaret Cho, and more. It is directed by cabaret icon, Andrea Marcovicci, and Music Directed by Shelly Markham, with creative consultation by Clifford Bell and Shelly Goldstein. The show is a musical biography of Gilda Radner's fascinating life, and includes such gems as "Pure Imagination," Markham's "You Make Me Laugh," "My Pa" and "Honey (Touch Me With My Clothes On." There is a $12 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum. A portion of proceeds to be donated to L.A. Cancer Support Community.

Cory is one of the leading young cabaret artists in America. Her interpretations of the American popular songbook have captivated audiences coast to coast in venues ranging from New York's Town Hall in the east, to the Chicago Jazz Festival in the midwest, and to The Plush Room and the Cinegrill in the west. Jamison emerged on the national scene with her critically acclaimed centennial tribute to the composer Hoagy Carmichael and her debut CD "Here's to Hoagy" on the LML Music label. NYC: BROADWAY SESSIONS THURSDAYS AT MIDTOWN THEATER AT HA!

"Broadway Sessions" is an evening of musical performances, games, comedy and open mic featuring a new Broadway guest each week. The show takes place every Thursday evening at 11:00 pm at THE MIDTOWN THEATER AT HA! COMEDY CLUB (163 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-977-3884). It is hosted by Ben Cameron (Wicked, Aida, Footloose) and features composer/musical director Will Van Dyke on piano. This week, April 7th, the show is thrilled to welcome Rachel Potter, Amy Rutberg, Eric Michael Krop, Tracy McDowell and Marisela. Rachel Potter currently stars as Wednesday in the Broadway hit The Addams Family. Her other credits include the national touring production of Wicked (Glinda u/s) and MTV's Legally Blonde: The Search for the Next Elle Woods. Amy Rutberg currently stars as Agnes in Charles Busch's The Divine Sister at the Soho Playhouse. Rutberg's other credits include the national tour of Frank Wildhorn's The Civil War and Off-Broadway's Bat Boy. Tracy McDowell (Rent) and Eric Michael Krop (The Broadway Boys) will team up for a concert Monday, April 11th at 8pm at Lower East Side night spot DROM. Vocalist Marisela is the recent winner of midtown vocal competition Tuesday Got Talent. The performances are followed by open mic that goes until 2:00 am. There is no cover charge for this event. Donations will be collected for BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS .

L.A.: KRITZERLAND AT THE GARDENIA: THE ALAN MENKEN ALBUM

Kritzerland at the Gardenia presents The Alan Menken Album on Wednesday, April 6th starting at 9:00 pm at THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444 ). Over the years, Bruce Kimmel recorded many Menken songs with a variety of performers and was the first person to produce an all-Menken CD, The Alan Menken Album, back in the mid-1990s with performer Debbie Gravitte. As usual, our show will feature some of Menken's hits, but in true Kritzerland fashion, there will be several rare and seldom-heard Menken songs. The cast features Roger Befeler (Beast in the National Tour of Beauty and the Beast), Dan Callaway (Broadway National Company: The Phantom of the Opera), Kirsten Chandler (The Marvelous Wonderettes: Magenta in The Rocky Horror Show), Juliana Hansen (Millie, Thoroughly Modern Millie, first national tour), Alet Taylor (Adelaide in Cabrillo's Guys & Dolls; Lick Me/Bite Me The Producers) and Melody Hollis (Broadway: Susan in Irving Berlin's White Christmas). Special guest will be Sharon McNight. Music Director will be A. J. Robb. As with all live entertainment events, performers are subject to change without notice. On Wednesday, April 6th, Katerina's Composers Studio, hosted by Jeannie Tanner, continues at KATERINA'S CLUB (1920 West Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL - 773-348-7592 - ) from 7:30 to 11:30 pm. This monthly showcase features singer/songwriters and composers from the Chicago area. This month the showcase will feature the singer/songwriter and composers Sandra Antongiorgi, Marita Brake, Jess Godwin, Denise LaGrassa, Jen St. Stjarna and Deborah Wyndham, with special guest June Shellene. There will be performances by all of the artists, along with conversations with these singer-songwriters. Host Jeannie Tanner will interview the artists during the evening and open up the discussions, taking audience questions. The highlight of these shows continues to be the "improv songwriting" segment - as the songwriters take suggestions from the audience to compose on-the-spot. There us a $7 cover.

Inspired by both the life and films of one of the 20th century's most alluring screen goddesses, the show draws heavily from the American songbook standards of the 30s and 40s and 50s. While one can expect a song or two from Ava's films, Sigali explores the ups and downs of Ava's extraordinary life with music from Gershwin and Weill to Mercer and Mancini. Accompanying Sigali on the piano is Musical Director & Arranger, Ido Alexander. The show is directed by Scott Coulter. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Acclaimed actress-singer-composer Lonette McKee will make her Oak Room debut in a new show, "Can't Help Lovin'" at THE ALGONQUIN OAK ROOM (59 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-419-9331 - ) from Tuesday through Saturday, April 5th through 30th. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday at 8:30 pm and late shows on Friday and Saturday at 11:00 pm. Lonette exploded onto the screen in the Motown-inspired cult musical "Sparkle." Then starred as a 30s torch singer opposite Gregory Hines in Cotton Club and a 50s Paris-based jazz singer in 'Round Midnight. On Broadway she starred as Julie in two major productions of Show Boat and off-Broadway as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill. Ms. McKee's songlist includes "How Long Has This Been Going On," "Them There Eyes," "Ill Wind," "When A Woman Loves a Man," "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man" and "Bill," among others. Musical Director is Bette Sussman, who has also worked with Whitney Houston, Bette Midler and Aretha Franklin. Drums & Percussion: Kahlil Kwame Bell. Bass: Lee Nadel. Jazz legend Annie Ross continues her unprecedented, record-breaking, multi-year run at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440), every Tuesday night in April at 9:30 pm. Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Tony Award-winner Donna Mckechnie, one of Broadway's most beloved and esteemed performers, will return to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) with her critically-acclaimed solo show, My Musical Comedy Life on Monday, April 4th at 8:00 pm. Currently co-starring off-Broadway in Love, Loss & What I Wore, Ms. McKechnie returns to The Beechman for one night only. The show is directed by Richard Jay-Alexander. Musical Direction by Alex Rybeck. My Musical Comedy Life is Ms. McKechnie's first New York engagement in five years. Last year, she received glowing notices when she toured with this show in Australia, visiting both Sydney and Melbourne and also appearing as the star of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival at the invitation of Artistic Director, David Campbell. My Musical Comedy Life encompasses music from some of Broadway's most celebrated composers, including Stephen Sondheim, Ed Kleban and Marvin Hamlisch, Rodgers and Hammerstein and Cy Coleman, as well as more contemporary artists including Francesca Blumenthal and Ann Hampton Callaway. There is a $35 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JIM VAN SLYKE'S "THE SEDAKA SHOW" AT FEINSTEIN'S

Jim Van Slyke returns toFEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095) in grand style with his critically-acclaimed show, "The Sedaka Show," celebrating the music of pop icon Neil Sedaka. Jim lights up the stage with this tribute to pop music legend Neil Sedaka and five decades of top 40 hits every Monday in April, the 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th, all shows at 8:30 pm. Conceived and directed by Tony-nominated singer/actor Brian Lane Green, "The Sedaka Show" features Jim's beautiful voice and charm with the intimate melodies of Neil Sedaka, including "Laughter in the Rain," "Hungry Years," "Solitaire," and classic Sedaka hits like "Oh Carol," "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do," "Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen," "Where the Boys Are," and the blockbuster hit, "Love Will Keep Us Together." With musical arrangements by award-winning musical director Tim DiPasqua, this tour de force trio have created a magnificent evening of Neil Sedaka favorites, lost gems, and a few surprises! One surprise: Terese Genecco joins Jim on April 25th. Jim will also celebrate the forthcoming release of his brand new CD, The Sedaka Sessions, featuring two duets with Neil Sedaka. The CD will be available for prerelease at all April performances. There is a $30-$50 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
