NYC: STEVEN BRINBERG - SIMPLY BARBARA
Steven Brinberg, the premier Barbra Streisand impressionist, will bring the latest version of his acclaimed one-man show, Simply Barbra, to
DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Saturday, April 25th at 8:00 pm. Musical director is Christopher Denney. Brinberg will literally transform on-stage into Barbra Streisand – both physically and vocally – in an extraordinary musical experience not to be missed! The show will also feature Jared Zirilli (Wicked, Rock of Ages) as special guest star. Brinberg has been praised for his live vocal performance of Barbra Streisand for over a decade around the world. In addition to touring all over America he has also played extensively in England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Thailand, Spain, Mexico and Canada - more cities than the real Barbra! He appeared regularly in symphony concerts with the late Marvin Hamlisch, Oscar-winning composer of "The Way We Were." Steven was hired by Streisand's management to perform at her friend Donna Karan's birthday party. He has recorded two CDs ("Simply Barbra Duets" and "Live in London") and has appeared in several feature films ("Boys Life," "Camp") and on television ("Blue Bloods") as well as onstage at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center and on Broadway in the benefit production of Funny Girl which featured Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth and Whoopi Goldberg. In between songs there are also some spoken extracts, taken from what Edith Piaf said in her own show at the Carnegie Hall on January 13th 1957. In the show "From Piaf to Mambo", Maria Elena portrays the life, philosophy and songs that made Edith Piaf the Icon of French Music, of whom 2015 marks her 100th birthday. NYC: YOUNG PEOPLE'S CHORUS OF NEW YORK CITY
The Young People's Chorus of New York City, conducted by Artistic Director/Founder Francisco J. Nunez, will sing the world premieres of five compositions commissioned for its Radio Radiance broadcast/digital new music series on April 25th at 7:00 pm at
SUBCULTURE NYC (45 Bleaker Street, NYC). The music is being recorded that evening for later broadcast by WWFM, The Classical Network, other public radio stations, and digitally through podcasts. The series was created by YPC in 2009 to excite and challenge the music perceptions of young people by reaching them through the kinds of audio technology they use every day: iPods, iPhones, sound pods, MP3's, laptops, as well as the time-honored medium of radio. In their compositions, each of the composers 0 Samuel Adler, Ryan Lott (aka Son Lux), Caroline Mallonee, Frank J. Oteri, and Aaron Siegel - have been challenged use new ideas and ways of thinking to write for today's young people and in the way they are most likely to enjoy music, not in concert halls only, but on the go. The April 25th concert/recording session will be hosted by YPC's longtime radio colleague, Soundcheck's John Schaefer, and attended by all of the composers, who will meet audience members at a Meet-The-Artist reception afterwards. Young People's Chorus of New York City is internationally renowned not only for its superb virtuosity and brilliant showmanship, but as a model for an inclusive society that is being replicated globally. Founded in 1988 by Artistic Director Francisco J. Nez, a MacArthur "genius" Fellow, YPC is also well known as a groundbreaker in invigorating the repertoire for young singers with more than 80 compositions YPC has commissioned from the most distinguished established and emerging composers of our time through its Transient Glory and Radio Radiance new music series. In residence at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall, each year YPC benefits almost 1,400 children from 7 to 18 musically, academically, and socially through its after-school and in-school programs. YPC has received America's highest honor for youth programs, a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award from the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities. There is a $25 cover.

NYC-QUEENS: KAREN MASON HEADLINES STAR STUDED CAST TO BENEFIT SPECIAL NEEDS SCHOOL

Broadway and cabaret star Karen Mason joins a host of MAC and Bistro Award-winning artists singing to benefit the special needs children of PS177Q, to be held at
THE ROBIN SUE WARD SCHOOL FOR EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN (56-37 188th Street Fresh Meadows, NY) on Saturday, April 25th. Other first-time performers at this benefit, now in its sixth year, are Karen Oberlin, Marcus Simeone and Susan Winter. Returning this year are 2015 Bistro Award Winner, Marissa Mulder and long-time NYC cabaret favorite Phyllis Pastore. The cast is completed by returning performers Tom Gamblin, master of ceremonies Warren Schein, and Robert Gino, a PS177Q therapist who is the driving force behind this event, which has raised over $60,000 to date. Tracy Stark is musical director with Marco Brehm on bass. The night also includes a raffle with prizes including tickets to Disney's Aladdin on Broadway, a champagne sunset cruise on a 47-foot sailboat yacht a music basket including signed CDs from the evening's performers plus many more raffle baskets.
