Rimalower's first solo show, the long-running hit Patti Issues, explored his obsession with Broadway diva Patti LuPone and his relationship with his troubled gay father. NYC: THE VAUDEVILLIANS: BRINGING UP BABY

After selling out an often-extended Off-Broadway run in 2013 (which attracted the likes of Neil Patrick Harris, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Joan Rivers, RuPaul and SNL's Kate McKinnon), a national tour, a 3-month Australian tour (where she was nominated for the Aussie equivalent of a Tony Award), and a summer run in Provincetown, RuPaul's Drag Race favorite Jinkx Monsoon will return to New York with the World Premiere of THE VAUDEVILLIANS: BRINGING UP BABY, a new musical comedy co-starring composer and musician Major Scales. This limited engagement begins performances May 21st at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909). Performances are on Thursday through Sunday, May 21st through 24th at 7:00 pm and Thursday through Saturday, May 28th through 30th, with matinee performances on Sundays, May 24th & 31st at 1:00 pm. The show returns for more appearances in April. Dr. Dan and Kitty Witless were put on ice in the Twenties, and had their entire music catalogue purloined by today's pop artists. Now the hottest act ever frozen alive is back again, with more swinging hits from their stolen songbook! There's only one problem: Kitty's "in a family way" and no one's quite sure where the kid came from. Can The Vaudevillians still put on a show while bringing up baby? Major Scales is the evil twin of Richard Andriessen, a musician, writer and performer based in Seattle. He has written everything from award-winning New York shows on the east coast to music for amateur adult films on the west. Jinkx Monsoon is the alter ego of Jerick Hoffer, who graduated with a degree in theatrical performance from Cornish College in Seattle. With ten years experience on stage, Hoffer is a seasoned Portland-born entertainer who has captured the attention of his native northwest region. As early as 2006, Hoffer appeared as the lead dancer in the world's largest drag queen chorus line, which made the Guinness Book of World Records. By 2012, he had advanced to roles in Seattle theaters, playing Moritz in "Spring Awakening" (produced by Balagan Theatre), Angel in "Rent" (produced by The 5th Avenue Theatre), and Hedwig in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" (produced by Balagan Theatre and Seattle Theatre Group). In 2014 he was nominated for the Helpmann Award (alongside the likes of Cate Blanchett, Ivo Van Hove, Denis O'Hare and Baz Luhrmann), the Australian equivalent of a Tony, for his performanace in The Vaudevillians. There is a $25-$50 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

NYC: GINGER MINJ - CROSSDRESSER FOR CHRIST - THE MUSICAL

Current RuPaul's Drag Race contestant Ginger Minj will make her New York City debut with the premiere of "Crossdresser For Christ - The Musical" at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909). This night of preaching to the perverted runs Friday & Saturday, May 22nd & 23rd at 10:00 pm with a special drag brunch show on Sunday, May 24th at 4:00 pm. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth. And it was fabulous! So begins "Crossdresser For Christ - The Musical", a musical comedy that tracks Ginger Minj's quest for spiritual enlightenment in song and story. Raised as a Southern Baptist in Lake County, Florida the self-described "chubby little lady-boy" gets tired of having hell and damnation shoved down her throat. So she begins her own search for alternative answers. It is a wild and wacky journey that promises to have you on your knees before the night is over. A relig-ish experience. Ginger Minj has long reigned as The Comedy Queen of The South, with the pageant titles, including "Miss Gay United States 2013," "Miss National Comedy Queen 2012" and others. Originally from Leesburg, Florida, she now calls Orlando home. Minj cites classic funny ladies Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball as her idols. Ginger's future career goals, in addition to winning the title of "America's Next Drag Superstar," on "RuPaul's Drag Race" is to follow in the footsteps of similar plus-sized comedians like Melissa McCarthy and Rebel Wilson. And she's already got the acting credits; before becoming Ginger Minj, this talented performer was a child actor starring in a series of Christian movies and books on tape, and even won a Best Actor Award for the state of Florida in 2002. Tickets are $22 plus a $20 food/drink minimum. A $40 VIP ticket including priority seating and meet-and-greet is also available. NYC: THE NEW STANDARDS AT JOE'S PUB

The New Standards (John Munson of Trip Shakespeare/ Semisonic fame; Chan Poling, founder of the haute-punk new-wave group The Suburbs; and Steve Roehm, vibraphonist extraordinaire) got together with a plan to play and sing their favorite songs - naked at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Friday, May 22nd at 7:30 pm. Well, the musicians are clothed, but the aesthetic is raw simplicity, communication and soul. The song selections span the twentieth century. Each song must be someone's favorite and each arrangement must bring something new to the song. In an age of digital overkill, The New Standards keep the instrumentation simple. Poling on piano, Roehm on vibraphone and Munson on double bass. Chan and John split the singing. If that's not enough, a footstomp here, a shout-out, a fiery solo, and it's cooked. Simple, elegant, illuminating. There is an $18 cover.
