BOSTON: MARC ANTOINE AND STEVE COLE AT SCULLER'S
Marc Antoine And Steve Cole will appear at SCULLERS JAZZ CLUB(400 Soldiers Field Road, Allston, MA - 617-562-4111) on Friday, October 17th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. You can expect contemporary jazz of the highest level when Antoine and Cole share a stage! Born in Paris, France guitarist Marc Antoine's s career has included many #1 hits on the R&R contemporary jazz charts, and a 2005 Grammy award in the "Best Instrumental Song" category. Antoine's latest release is titled "Guitar Destiny." Saxophonist Steve Cole is one of the most celebrated players in contemporary jazz. Cole's latest CD, "Pulse" is a 10-song set mixing R&B, contemporary jazz, gospel, blues and pop. Dinner/Show: $70 Show only: $30.
BOSTON: EMILY BEAR: SOLO PIANO AT THE REGATTABAR
Emily Bear will appear at THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel (1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757) on Friday, October 17th at 7:30 pm. Bear is 12 years old and began piano studies with Emilio del Rosario at The Music Institute of Chicago. She currently studies classical piano at New Music School with Mary Sauer, Principal Keyboardist for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and jazz improvisation with Alan Swain. Additional mentors include Yoheved Kaplinsky, head of the Juilliard Piano Department and Frank Kimbrough for Jazz, also at Juilliard. She studies film scoring at New York University, (NYU), with Ron Sadoff and Ira Newborn.Emily is equally comfortable playing jazz, classical, or her own compositions.When she was five years old, Emily made her professional debut performing a solo concert at the Ravinia Music Festival. She made her Carnegie Hall, debut at age nine, performing original music solo, and with orchestra. Emily's recently performed at The Hollywood Bowl in a concert honoring Quincy Jones. There is a $25 cover.
