NYC: JEFF MACAULEY 'IT WAS ME' CD RELEASE AT MAMA'S

Jeff Macauley's acclaimed show 'It Was Me', featuring the lyrics of Norman Gimbel, will be repeated on Tuesday, October 14th at 7:30 pm at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788). Arrangements and accompaniment is by Hubert "Tex" Arnold, with Jon Burr on bass. The show has been recorded, and the CD will be released - and available - at the show. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: BARRET IS BACK ON RESTAURANT ROW 

Chris Barrett returns to LA RIVISTA RISTORANTE (313 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-366-4603) on Monday, May 19th, where he will be at the piano Mondays through Wednesdays. There are two shows nightly, a dinner show at 8:00 and a supper show at 10:00 pm. Chris Barrett's performances are in the tradition of the great late-night boites of a fondly remembered era, when the likes of Hugh Shannon, Bobby Short, and Buddy Barnes manned the keyboard. NYC: ERIC COMSTOCK AT CAFE NOCTAMBULO AT PANGEA

Eric Comstock continues his residency at New York's newest music venue, CAFE NOCTAMBULO AT PANGEA(178 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-995-0900) from 8:00 pm to midnight every Tuesday night. An acknowledged master of the American Songbook, Comstock has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and virtually every important nightclub in New York and across the country. He is one of only a handful of singer/pianists who can command a room merely by sitting at the piano, singing and telling stories. In addition to his extensive knowledge of repertoire, Comstock has a seemingly unending supply of anecdotes about the songs, the writers, and the stars who sang them. His unique combination of musicianship, history and charisma creates an experience that is as entertaining as it is musically savvy, and his audiences feel they've been to a terrific party where the music and the stories have been equally great. NYC: NEXT SINGING EXPERIENCE WORKSHOP SHOWCASE AT STAGE 72

Linda Amiel Burns, the Director of THE SINGING EXPERIENCE, announces that the next workshop performance will be at STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-315-3500) on Tuesday, October 14th at 7:30 pm. The show "Autumn In The Air" features Joan Adams, Phyllis Alperstein, Georgia Buchanan, Humberto Colmenares, Bill Dyszel, Maria Gonzalez, Alan HIrshman, Leah Lane, Matt Lewis and Bill Thomas. THE SINGING EXPERIENCE in its 36th season, (established 1977) was begun to give aspiring cabaret and musical theater performers the opportunity to explore their talents, conquer fear, and develop self-confidence by learning the "tools of the trade" through actually performing before audiences in a supportive and nurturing environment. THE SINGING EXPERIENCE has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning and in the NY Times! Call for cover/minimum information.

NYC: JAZZ LEGEND ANNIE ROSS CELEBRATES CD RELEASE AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) has a big celebration set for this Tuesday night, October 14th, with shows at 7:00 & 9:00 pm 'Celebrating Annie Ross'! The Legendary Annie Ross, who performs weekly on Tuesdays at 9:30 pm, will be honored on this very special Two-Part Event and will feature Tardo and Band, Russel Malone, Will Friedwald (Speaking), Eddie Monteiro, Charles Davi, Marion Cowings, Sheldon Harnick (Speaking), Dillon Pranuk, Bucky & John Pizzarelli, and Amy London. Part 2 of the evening will celebrate Annie's CD Release, starting at 9pm. You can purchase ticket for one or both of the events. Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum for each show. If you attend the 7:00 pm event, there is a 50% discount on the cover if you stay for the 2nd show. 

NYC: RICHMOND SHEPARD PREMIERES "YOU WANT TO BE A WHAT?!?" AT DON'T TELL MAMA 

Richmond Shepard, known variously as the first mime in America, America's foremost mime, and now the world's oldest active mime, will bring his show "You Want to Be a What?!?" to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Tuesdays, September 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, and October 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th all shows at 9:15 pm. Supported by Nicholas Wolfson on guitar and two back-up mimes - Carol Tandava Henning and Marcus Watson - Shepard does stand-up mime, and recounts strange stories about his colorful career! Written, directed and performed by Shepard, "You Want to Be a What?!?" (subtitled "A Memoir in Mime") combines vintage and modern mime idioms, adding music and back-up mimes and tossing in a lighted match! There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum. 

NYC: AMANDA MCBROOM AND GEORGE BALL AT 54 BELOW

Golden Globe winner, Amanda McBroom - the international nightclub and theater performer and composer of the hit song "The Rose," joins with her husband - multi-award winning musical theater lion George Ball - will present the New York debut of their show, 'Some Enchanted Evening - An Evening of Love Songs for Grownups', at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesday, October 8th at 7:00 pm and Tuesday, October 14th at 7:30 pm. The show takes a very, deep unflinching dive into love, marriage and commitment with humor and feeling through songs by such illustrious songwriters as Cole Porter, Jacques Brel, Kurt Weill, Stephen Sondheim, and of course, McBroom herself. The show recently played at Catalina Jazz in Los Angeles and at Crazy Coqs in London. The couple fell in love while performing in a production of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris and then starred in the original off-Broadway production. They have appeared together in Sweeney Todd and other shows in New York, Los Angeles, regionally and internationally. Ball starred in the Broadway production of Brel. There is a $30-$55 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: MOLLY RINGWALD MAKES CAFE CARLYLE DEBUT

Singer/actress Molly Ringwald will make her Cafe Carlyle debut in 'An Evening with Molly Ringwald' at THE CAFE CARLYLE (35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-744-1600) on Tuesday through Saturday, October 7th through 18th at 8:45 pm with an additional show on Saturdays at 10:45 pm. Ringwald, who got her start in the iconic John Hughes films The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles and Pretty In Pink, has since become an accomplished stage actress, writer and jazz singer. She has starred in Broadway productions of the Pulitzer Prize-winning How I Learned to Drive; the revival of Cabaret; Tony-nominated Enchanted April and the West End production of When Harry Met Sally. She will perform songs from the Great American Songbook and Ringwald's acclaimed album, Except Sometimes and will be joined by her musical director and pianist Peter Smith (all dates except October 9 where he will be substituted by Laurence Hobgood) and Trevor Ware on bass. There is a $50-115 cover.

NYC: DINE & DANCE WITH VINCE GIORDANO AND THE NIGHTHAWKS - NOW AT THE IGUANA

Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks are back - and now will play every Monday & Tuesday night from 8:00 to 11:00 pm at at IGUANA'S VIP LOUNGE (240 West 54th Street, NYC - 212-765-5454). Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks is an eleven-piece band playing music of the 1920s & 30s for your dining and dancing pleasure. In 1976 Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks (originally known as the New Orleans Nighthawks) was formed. A big-band historian and collector, Giordano has more than 60,000 scores in his collection. There is a $15 cover (at the door) plus a $15 food drink minimum.
