CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: MARY FOSTER CONKLIN: BLUES FOR BREAKFAST
Mary Foster Conklin will celebrate the Matt Dennis centennial with songs from her CD Blues for Breakfast at JAZZ AT KATANO (66 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-885-7119) on Wednesday, June 6th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Blues For Breakfast is a tribute to the late great singer, songwriter and pianist Matt Dennis (1914-2002), who was hired by Tommy Dorsey in the 1940s as an arranger/composer and later had a full career of his own playing the country's top supper clubs. His songs "Angel Eyes" and "The Night We Called It a Day" were recorded by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and countless others. This award winning recording was a culmination of three years research and has been performed on both coasts, to critical acclaim. There is a $15 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
