Blues For Breakfast is a tribute to the late great singer, songwriter and pianist Matt Dennis (1914-2002), who was hired by Tommy Dorsey in the 1940s as an arranger/composer and later had a full career of his own playing the country's top supper clubs. His songs "Angel Eyes" and "The Night We Called It a Day" were recorded by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and countless others. This award winning recording was a culmination of three years research and has been performed on both coasts, to critical acclaim. There is a $15 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

NYC: FREDDY COLE AT BIRDLAND
Freddy Cole will perform atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Tuesday through Saturday, June 3rd through 7th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. Freddy Cole doesn't apologize for sounding like his brother, Nat "King" Cole. There are certain unmistakable similarities. He plays piano, sings and performs live with guitar and upright bass, just like Nat. Yet his voice is raspier, smokier, jazzier even. But he has emerged from the great shadow cast by his elder brother. In truth, his phrasing is far closer to that of Frank Sinatra or Billie Holiday than that of his brother and his timing swings a little more. His vocals - suave, elegant, formidable, and articulate - are among the most respected in jazz. Cole's career continues to ascend as he has moved into the front ranks of America's homegrown art form with a style and musical sophistication all his own. There is a $40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
