NYC: JENNIE LITT & DAVID ALPHER TWO APPLES CD RELEASE SHOW
Jennie Litt and David Alpher, Brooklyn's own married songwriting duo, celebrate the May release of their debut recording, TWO APPLES, with an appearance atTHE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, June 5th at 7:00 pm. TWO APPLES is a collection of eleven original songs covering topics ranging from lingerie to gym addiction to the random miracle of existence. Jennie Litt (vocalist and Lyricist) and David Alpher (pianist and composer) perform with special guests: vocalist and director Lina Koutrakos, counter-tenor Drew Minter, Rosemary Loar, Adam Shapiro and Uraina Collazo. Their band includes jazz stalwarts Boots Maleson on bass and Scott Neumann on drums, Marcia Young on Renaissance harp, Tom Glusac on saxophone and clarinet, and Ms. Litt on Brazilian nose flute. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: BROADWAY SINGS AT THE WEST END - THURSDAYS
A New Open mic night has begun hosted by Sarah Rice & Craig Pomranz on the Upper West Side! BROADWAY SINGS AT THE WEST END will be held every Thursday night (it started on May 1st) at THE WEST END (955 West End Avenue, NYC - 212-531-4759) from 9:00 to 11:00 pm (signup after 8:30 pm). Matthew Martin Ward will be at the piano. An open mic with multi-award winning hosts Sarah and Craig bring the ultimate New York experience to the Upper West Side with all kinds of talent singing all genres of music -Broadway, Pop, Jazz, Classical, all are welcomed. There will be a drawing at the end of the evening to get to sing another song and get a free cover for the following week. There will also be a group sing of the Tonight Quintette from West Side Story. There is a $7 cover - no minimum.

NYC: SINGLE THE MUSICAL AT 54 BELOW
Single The Musical, starring Melissa van der Schyff, Claybourne Elder and more, will be presented at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Thursday, June 5th at 7:00 pm. Single is the musical journey of a 35-year-old successful, single divorce attorney who is unfulfilled in her work and constantly chooses the wrong men. On her journey, Leah grows in her personal life through haunting flashbacks to the airline pilot who broke her heart and predictably married a stewardess, to the tattooed drummer whom she casually dates. But will she make it with Jacob, the heart surgeon she constantly sabotages by always looking backwards instead of to a bright future? Each man has a life and a story and, even better, a song! Single previously appeared at the 2010 New York Musical Theatre Festival for a sold-out extended run under the title Therapy Rocks. The show is from British composer-lyricist Karen Bishko, whose other credits include touring with English pop group Take That at the O2 Arena in London. NYC: JOANNA CHRISTIE AT 54 BELOW
Joanna Christie will perform at54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Thursday, June 5th at 10:00 pm. With a musical background in everything but musical theatre - Classical piano and church choir as a child, fronting a rock band in her teens, singing jazz in smoky London dives in her 20s - never in her wildest dreams did Joanna Christie think she would end up being the lead in a musical on Broadway. In 2013, Joanna landed the lead role in the Tony award winning musical Once. This life changing experience has inspired an album of songs entitled The Year of Joy & Tears which Joanna will finish and record this year. She will present an evening of songs off the album as well as other music that has inspired her during the years. Joanna will be joined on stage by members of the Once company as well as her mother and brother, both musicians from London. There is a $30-$40 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
