NYC: SARA ZAHN: "THE CAHN FILM FESTIVAL"

Sara Zahn brings her show "THE CAHN FILM FESTIVAL" to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sundays, May 4th & 11th at 7:00 pm, featuring the shows of Sammy Cahn written for the movies. Musical director is Christopher Denny and the show is directed by Barry Kleinbort. Sammy Cahn, the legendary songwriter, grew up as a poor kid in Brooklyn and ended up in Hollywood writing songs for for iconic movie stars: Frank Sinatra, Doris Day and Julie Andrews, to name a few. For his contributions, Sammy was nominated twenty six times for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, more than ANY other songwriter... EVER. He won four times, placing him with the top winners of all time alongside Alan Menken, Johnny Mercer, and Jimmy Van Heusen (one of Sammy's longtime collaborators) As a veteran professional since age 4, Sara Zahn has been working in show business for over 50 years. During the last 25 years she has garnered critical acclaim as an international performer, award-winning songwriter and familiar singing voice on TV shows, animated films, jingles and voiceovers. Her many cabaret shows, including tributes to Leonard Bernstein, Charles Strouse, Carolyn Leigh and Sammy Cahn, have garnered her a Backstage Bistro Award, for Outstanding Female Vocalist and The Hanson Award from MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs), as well as participation in The Berkshire and American Music Theatre Festivals. Performances at Rainbow and Stars, The Russian Tea Room, Tavern on the Green, and a three month engagement headlining at famed jazz club Michael's Pub plus numerous performances in the Lyrics and Lyricists series at the 92nd St Y, have made her a triple threat in the worlds of cabaret, theatre and jazz. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: THE FRANCIS DEY LAS VEGAS REVUE

The Francis Dey Las Vegas Revue will be presented atTHE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, May 11th at 9:30 pm. Francis Dey is the epitome of a "Crooner Extraordinaire." Dey delivers the authentic, passion-filled vocal phrasings of a legendary saloon singer. His electrifying stage presence, and "born-to-perform personality," rivals the very best in the business. Francis Dey personifies great crooners like: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr. and Bobby Darin. There is a $30 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: REV. YOLANDA'S OLD TIME GOSPEL HOUR AT THE DUPLEX

A delightful, feel good, gender bending celebration of old fashioned gospel and country gospel music, plus original music by Rev. Yolanda written in the old fashion style, will be presented at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Sunday, May 11th at 6:30 pm. This show takes a musical tour of Rev. Yolanda's transformational spiritual journey from a gospel music loving Alabama gay boy, to a Radical Faerie, Rock & Roll, GLBT Hall of Fame Transgender Warrior, to a New Thought Interspiritual Drag Queen Reverend. Directed by Rev. Shawn Moninger, the show features Rev. Roger Anthony Yolanda Mapes on vocals and acoustic guitar; Kenneth Gartman, Musical Director/ Arrangements, piano, vocals. Special guests TBA. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: A GAY SHOW FOR ALL PEOPLE AT THE DUPLEX

Aaron Jackson and Josh Sharp host a gay show for all people at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438)on Sunday, May 11th at 9:30 pm. The show is filled with songs and laughs from comics and queers and mostly people who are both. This month's performers include Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live), Eliot Glazer (Billy On The Street, Best Week Ever), Justin Sayre (The Meeting) and Jason Michael Snow (Book of Mormon). There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: LAUREN WHITE AND THE QUINN JOHNSON TRIO

Lauren White and the Quinn Johnson Trio will perform atTHE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909 - ) on Sunday, May 11th at 10:00 pm. Lauren White is an accomplished vocalist who seamlessly blends the worlds of jazz and cabaret with the release of her most recent cd "Meant To Be", produced by Quinn Johnson (From the Grammy Winning "Clare Fischer Latin Jazz Big Band" and Steve Tyrell's longtime Musical Director) and Executive Produced by Clifford Bell. Lauren has performed from coast to coast from the legendary Cinegrill at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Jazz Upstairs at Vitello's, and Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles to the popular Triad and The Metropolitan Room in New York City. There is a $15 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JINKX MONSOON: THE INEVITABLE CONCERT

After touring the world with The Vaudevillians, RuPaul's Drag Race favorite Jinkx Monsoon makes her much anticipated return to New York and THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) with JINKX MONSOON: THE INEVITABLE CONCERT. Monsoon will appear live with her band, premiering an evening of songs from her upcoming CD, The Inevitable Album. The CD will be released the week of the show and will available to buy at the theatre. Performances are on Thursday through Sunday, May 8th through 11th at 7:00 pm. Jinkx Monsoon is the alter ego of Jerick Hoffer, who graduated with a degree in theatrical performance from Cornish College in Seattle. With ten years experience on stage, Hoffer is a seasoned Portland-born entertainer who has captured the attention of his native northwest region. As early as 2006, Hoffer appeared as the lead dancer in the world's largest drag queen chorus line, which made the Guinness Book of World Records. By 2012, he had advanced to roles in Seattle theaters, playing Moritz in "Spring Awakening" (produced by Balagan Theatre) and Angel in "Rent" (produced by The 5th Avenue Theatre). In 2013, Hoffer played Hedwig in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" (produced by Balagan Theatre and Seattle Theatre Group) and began an international tour of The Vaudevillians, an acclaimed performace piece co-created with Major Scales. Tickets are $25-$50 (VIP) at cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

NYC: 54 SINGS MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG

Some of the Great White Way's most talented performers gather to honor Stephen Sondheim's score of Merrily We Roll Along for one night only at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Sunday, May 11th with shows at 7:00 & 9:30 pm. It may have only run for a few weeks, but Merrily We Roll Along continues to fascinate & inspire, especially amongst Broadway folk. There is a $50 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: MAXINE LINEHAN: AN AMERICAN JOURNEY

After a sold out performance at BIRDLAND, actress/singer Maxine Linehan will next present a limited run of her solo show An American Journey, A universal story told through song, at TERMINUS RECORDING STUDIOS (723 Seventh Avenue, NYC). Performances are on Sundays & Wednesdays, April 27th through May 14th, all shows at 7:00 pm. For this event, Terminus will be converted into a "pop-up cabaret performance space". The theatrical concert was conceived for Maxine and is being directed by Scott Siegel, with musical direction by the award-winning Tracy Stark and decor by Christopher Studley. The Irish born Ms. Linehan, serves up a story that is both achingly personal and extraordinarily universal. In this one-hour performance, using a diverse catalogue of music that includes show tunes, country, and pop, she tells the story of leaving Ireland twelve years ago for life in America. Maxine taps into the shared experience of generation after generation of immigrants who have arrived in this country with big dreams and high hopes. NYC: JIM CARUSO & BILLY STRITCH RETURN TO BEMELMANS BAR

Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch return toBEMELMAN'S BAR at the CARLYLE(35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-570-7189) with their evening of swinging standards running every Sunday in April and May, from 9:00 pm to midnight. The two performers, who have performed extensively on their own, gained national exposure together as the host and musical director of the wildly popular open mic, Cast Party, which celebrates talent every Monday at Birdland in NYC, and tours nationally. During their 2013 debut runs at Bemelmans, the duo received critical acclaim, and made news when showbiz heavy-hitters like Liza Minnelli and Michael Feinstein joined them in impromptu performances. In their upcoming Carlyle run, Caruso and Stritch will be joined by bassist Steve Doyle. There is a $15-$25 cover.
