MAC and Bistro award-winning singer/ pianist Steven Ray Watkins celebrates the music of the 80's at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Thursdays, May 1st, 8th & 15th at 7:00 pm. The show i in honor of his dreaded 50th birthday. He is joined by Rachel Hanser, Wendy Russell and Lennie Watts. Lennie Watts directs. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: ONE NIGHT ONLY: JOYCE BREACH AT DON'T TELL MAMA

Jazz vocalist Joyce Breach will perform for one night only at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Thursday, May 15th at 7:30 pm. She will be accompanied by Ronny Whyte at the piano. Breach is an accomplished and sophisticated interpreter of classic American popular song. Before moving to New York in the 1990's, she was a well-known singer of long-standing reputation in her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA when she began to develop a more national profile with her first CD for Audiophile Records, released in 1992. In the fall of 1992, she made her New York debut at the Mabel Mercer Foundation Cabaret Convention in Town Hall. On October 25, 2002, Joyce was presented with the Mabel Mercer Foundation's Cabaret Classic award celebrating her dedication to keeping alive the art of fine singing. Joyce is a favorite at the popular Noon Concert Series at St. Peter's Church. Joyce's New York engagements include the Algonquin's Oak Room, Russian Tea Room, Arci's Place, Danny's and the Firebird Cafe. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: ALAN WINER: THE BOY WHO LOVED BASSEY

Alan Winer performs in The Boy Who Loved Bassey at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Thursday, May 15th at 7:00 pm. The show iss a celebration of Dame Shirley Bassey's illustrious career. From meager beginnings to a glamorous career spanning more than five decades, Dame Shirley has touched the lives of millions around the globe. Alan will will sing songs you remember and some you don't, but all tell a part of the story of the Girl from Tiger Bay. Directed by Ben Cameron. There is a $10 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JULIE BUDD CELEBRATES HER NEW CD AT THE MET

Julie Bodd will celebrate her new CD "They Wrote the Songs" (released in April) atTHE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, May 15th at 7:00 pm, with additional performances on Friday & Saturday, the 16th & 17th at 7:00 pm and Sunday the 18th at 4:00 pm. Budd is backed by a quartet led by her long-time music director Herb Bernstein on piano. The combo includes Lew Scott on bass, Sam Lazzarra on drums and Art Weiss on keyboards. In the show, Budd sheds her bright vocal light on newer songwriters of our generation, at least nothing written before the mid-'60s! "They Wrote The Songs" includes unreleased compositions by Ann Hampton Callaway, and Steve Dorff, as well as songs from a host of other climates like The Beatles, Anthony Newley and even Broadway's "The Wiz." NYC: CAROLE J. BUFFORD IN 'SHADES OF BLUE' METROPOLITAN ROOM

Carole J. Bufford launches her brand new show, Shades of Blue, at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursdays at 9:30 pm, opening on May 8th and running though October 9th. Musical Direction is by Ian Herman. A throbbing and thrilling show full of tempestuous blues numbers from their southern roots to their northern heights and culled from material spanning a century, Shades of Blue is filled with blues and songs inspired by the blues made famous by the likes of Bessie Smith, Johnny Cash, The Animals, Amy Winehouse, Dinah Washington, John Legend and more! Acclaimed for her work in the recent Broadway musical Big Fish, the groundbreaking off-Broadway musical Giant, and break out performance in the 2009 revival of Finian's Rainbow, Kate Baldwin offers her first solo concert program in NYC in three years. Come hear the lessons Kate has learned in her journey from college student to budding professional to one of Broadway's honored leading ladies. Mandy Gonzalez, star of Broadway's Wicked, In the Heights, Lennon and more, will perform at 54 BELOW(254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Thursday, May 15th at 9:30 pm. Join her for an unforgettable evening of great music and hilarity, all revolving around love and its crazy themes and variations. Expect hit tunes like "Total Eclipse of the Heart," "Breathe" and, yes, "Defying Gravity" as well as a catalogue of songs from musical greats like Elvis, Edie, Liza, Lennon, Aretha, Tina and a whole host of others. There is a $30-$40 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: LATE NIGHT: MISS VODKA STINGER

Vodka Stinger returns to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Thursday, May 15th at 11:30 pm after her SOLD OUT show Lower Your Expectations. This show is part of the club's Late Night series. This time join the singing chanteuse as she and her trusty back up singers take you "Around The World In 80 Ways With Vodka Stinger And The Martha Rayes." A musical journey that promises to entertain and surprise you with songs you have never heard, stories that will make you scream with laughter, and a singular subplot where she meets the man of her dreams. There is a $10 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

NYC: STEVE TYRELL AT THE CAFE CARLYLE

NYC cabaret favorite Steve Tyrell will perform at THE CAFE CARLYLE (35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-744-1600) on Tuesdays through Saturdays, May 6th through 17th at 8:45 pm, with an added late show on Saturdays at 10:45 pm. (No show on Friday, May 9th). The Grammy Award-winning vocalist is truly a renaissance man. In his almost 5 decades in the music business, he has achieved great success as an artist, producer, songwriter, music supervisor, and performer. His hits "The Way You Look Tonight," "The Simple Life," "Crush On You" and "The Sunny Side of The Street," have launched thousands of weddings and millions of romances. He's held top positions at Standards, Swing, and Big Band outlets with a devoted following at key Adult Contemporary Radio. He has appeared with The Boston Pops, twice with The New York Pops, The Nashville Symphony, and The Houston Symphony on several occasions. In 2005, after the passing of the legendary Bobby Short, Steve was asked by New York City's Cafe Carlyle to take over their revered Holiday Season of November and December, which Mr. Short had not missed in 36 years. Now Steve has become a fixture in New York and has played the Cafe Carlyle to record crowds for the last 7 years. As an artist, all 7 of his American Standards albums have achieved top 5 status on Billboard's Jazz charts, and his first album "A New Standard" was amongst the best selling jazz albums for over five years.
