N.Y.STATE: LONG BEACH LIBRARY HOSTS LIVE PERFORMANCES AND SPECIAL EVENTS
FEATURED CABARET FESTIVAL EVENT

Artists in Partnership (AIP), a non-profit cultural arts organization, will host its 12th Annual Cabaret Festival Thursday through Sunday, May 15th through 18th atTHE LONG BEACH PUBLIC LIBRARY (111 West Park Avenue, Long Beach, NY). All performances are FREE to the public. The festival will be a celebration of the cabaret genre honoring the Great American Songbook with performances by renowned local and New York City-based artists. On Thursday, May 15th at 7:30 pm, "Songs and Singers In The Making." with aspiring singers Alex Greif and others performing in a master class workshop with Tedd Firth, musical director. This event is made possible with public funds from the Long Beach Public Library.

BOSTON: A.J. CROCE TWELVE TALES CD RELEASE SHOW

A.J. Croce celebrates the release of his CD 'Twelve Tales' at THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel (1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757) on Thursday, May 15th at 7:30 pm. From his debut as a jazz influenced blues-based artist to his evolution into a pop music iconoclast, singer-songwriter A.J. Croce has traveled a circuitous musical road. Now, with Twelve Tales, A.J. unveiled his most ambitious recording project to date: A dozen new tracks recorded by legendary producers across a variety of American cities, released one song each month in 2013. A.J. recently signed with Compass Records (Colin Haye, Victor Wooten), an independent label that has been touted by Billboard Magazine as one of the leading labels of the past decade. Twelve Tales came out everywhere on February 4, 2014 and will come out on LP this Spring. There is a $20 cover.

BOSTON: JAMES MONTGOMERY AT SCULLERS

Blues legend James Montgomery performs atSCULLERS JAZZ CLUB (400 Soldiers Field Road, Allston, MA - 617-562-4111) on Thursday, May 15th at 8:00 pm. When Montgomery plays the harmonica, he "brings it on home". Whether it's recording with Kid Rock, sitting in with Gregg Allman, or fronting his hot band of thirty years, Montgomery plays with authority. While growing up in Detroit he learned first-hand from the masters - James Cotton, John Lee Hooker, and Jr. Wells - at the legendary "Chessmate." Over the years, he's carried on in the tradition and continues to be a vital presence in Blues as one of the most dynamic performers on the scene. Dinner/Show: $70 Show only: $30.

TORONTO: THE P. J. PERRY QUARTET AT THE JAZZ BISTRO

The P. J. Perry Quartet (PJ Perry - saxophone, Dave Restivo - piano, Neil Swainson - bass, Terry Clarke - drums) will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Thursday through Saturday, May 15th through Saturday at 9:00 pm. PJ Perry has shared the stage with countless jazz greats such as Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Shaw, Michel LeGrand, Pepper Adams, Kenny Wheeler, Tom Harrell, Rob McConnell, Slide Hampton, Herb Spanier, Bobby Shew, Fraser McPherson, Tommy Banks, Joe LaBarbera, Clarence "Big" Miller, Red Rodney and many more talented artists, to numerous to list here. Winner of a 1993 Juno Award for Best Jazz Recording for his album "My Ideal", P.J. has received Jazz Report magazine's Critic's Choice Award for Best Alto Sax for, a record, of seven years from 1993 to 1999. In autumn of 1999 Justin Time Records released a Juno nominated recording of P.J. and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. P.J. Perry has become recognized by critics, colleagues and listeners as being one of North America's premier saxophonists. In 2007 P.J. was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Alberta. Recently, he was a featured soloist on the hit 2010 Broadway production of Come Fly Away, highlighting the songs link to Canadian Encyclopedia of Frank Sinatra and the choreography of Twyla Tharpe. WASHINGTON, DC: TRIO CALIENTE AT BLUES ALLEY

Trio Caliente will perform atBLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Thursday, May 15th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Since 2003, Trio Caliente's inimitable blend of Flamenco, Pop, and Brazilian Jazz has been enjoyed by political luminaries stateside and abroad; notable Fortune 500 companies; and venerated international organizations, festivals, and concert venues around the world. With vocals in Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, and English set to a wide array of Latin grooves, Trio Caliente's sound is reminiscent of The Gipsy Kings, Buena Vista Social Club, Strunz & Farah, and Jobim but with a flavor all their own. BETHESDA, MD: NEXT BEST THING PRESENTS: SIMON & GARFUNKEL

'Next Best Thing: Simon & Garfunkel' starring AJ Swearingen and Jonathan Beedle, will be performed atBETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ SUPPER CLUB (7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD - 240-330-4500) on Thursday, May 15th at 8:00 pm. Swearingen and Beedle have been performing this remarkable tribute to the music of "Simon & Garfunkel" for more than a decade and their sold out shows prove the effect on their audiences is undeniable. A chance meeting in 1991, in a local club in Bethlehem, PA, brought these two talented artists together. A brief introduction and moments later they were blending their voices as if they had been performing together for a lifetime. AJ's warm baritone and Jonathan's soaring tenor combine flawlessly to capture the essence and magic of "Simon & Garfunkel's" sound of the early years in Greenwich Village. With a quiet stage and an acoustic guitar, A.J. and Jonathan re-create the memories of the classic hits and obscure songs of "Simon & Garfunkel." There is a $20 cover.
