FLORIDA: FAITH PRINCE AT THE ROYAL ROOM

Faith Prince will appear at THE ROYAL ROOM at THE COLONY HOTEL (155 Hammond Avenue, Palm Beach, FL - 561-659-8100) on Fridays & Saturdays, May 16th & 17th and 23rd & 24th at 8:00 pm. Tony Award winner Faith Prince dazzles audiences as she moves effortlessly between theatre, live performance, television and movies. Her latest concert, Total Faith, reflects this Southern Belle's past and present with a small glimpse into the future, as well. Her unforgettable and often hilarious adventures are brought to life through the songs of some of America's greatest composers, including Harold Arlen, Menken & Ashman, Stephen Sondheim, Kander & Ebb, Rodgers & Hart, and Jerry Herman. INDIANAPOLIS, IN: JAMES TORME IN LOVE FOR SALE

THE CABARET AT THE COLUMBIA CLUB (121 Monument Circle, Indianapolis, IN - 317-275-1169) celebrates jazz history with the son of the legendary entertainer Mel Torme on Thursday & Friday, May 15th & 16th at 8:00 pm. James Torme brings classic jazz to a new generation, infusing older classics with contemporary influences, and haunting newer songs with his timeless throwback renditions. Having grown up hanging out with jazz legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Buddy Rich, and more, it is no surprise that his debut jazz album Love For Sale reached #2 on iTunes Jazz and #3 on Amazon Jazz. There is a $25-$55 cover plus a $12 food/drink minimum.

CHICAGO: JAMES GAVIN LIVE AT THE TWISTED VINE

Singer James Gavin will perform at THE TWISTED VINE CHICAGO (3530 N.orth Halsted, Chicago, IL -773-288-0942) on Friday, May 15th at 8:00 pm with his show, "Well, Since We're All Here with James Gavin". The first hour will be an acoustic set with James and Julie Gorzkowski on Guitar, then two hours with James and Brian Felder on Piano. There will be musical theater favorites, jazz standards, contemporary pop, and even some country music, There is no cover charge.

OMAHA, NB: MARY CARRICK RELEASES NEW CD AT THE SLOWDOWN

Cabaret singer and recording artist Mary Carrick launches the release of her debut album, LET'S FLY, with a CD release show on Friday, May 16th at 8:00 pm at THE SLOWDOWN (729 N. 14th St, Omaha, NE - 402-345-7569). She is joined by music director J. Gawf at the piano, JB Ferguson on drums, Steve Gomez on upright bass, and Kate Williams on accordion. LET'S FLY features a varied yet cohesive palate of reimagined classics and contemporary songs ranging from great American standards, cabaret and musical theater to jazz, folk and country. Centering on themes of wanting and yearning for what fills us, completes us and makes us feel alive, Mary takes listeners through stages of love, desire and life's hills and valleys - posing questions, weighing options and taking risks. The live release show features songs from the album along with additional selections, including music by Leonard Cohen, Cole Porter, Van Morrison, Dolly Parton, Jason Robert Brown, Barry Manilow, Hank Williams, John Bucchino, Kander and Ebb, Harold Arlen, Stephen Schwartz and more. LOS ANGELES: THE LEFT COAST JAZZ TRIO PERFORM "A TRIBUTE TO DAD"

The Left Coast Jazz Trio perform "A Tribute to Dad" on Friday & Saturday, May 16th & 17th at 9:00 pm at THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444). Vern Waldron on Piano, Clarence Robinson on Bass, and John Severino on Drums comprise this well-schooled and internationally-traveled group who specialize in jazz standards pulled from "across the spectrum" and played with a west coast sensibility. 108th Avenue Entertainment has been presenting talent at The Gardenia since the beginning of the year, and the quality of their offerings has been exceptional, with previous shows featuring J. SAN FRANCISCO: SPENCER DAY RETURNS TO FEINSTEIN'S

Singer/ songwriter/ pianist Spencer Day returns toFEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) for three performances only, Thursday through Saturday, May 15th through 17th at 8:00 pm (7:00 pm on Saturday). Day will perform tracks off his two critically acclaimed albums - The Mystery of You and Vagabond - as well as tracks off his as-yet-untitled upcoming album due out later in May 2014. Day has been a perennial favorite in the San Francisco Bay Area since exploding on to the music scene as a performer at the 2007 San Francisco Jazz Festival. Since then, he has performed at some of the nation's most prominent venues, including Joe's Pub and Town Hall in New York City and Yoshi's and the Great American Musical Hall in San Francisco. Day has headlined at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., The Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis, and the Dakota in Minneapolis. Recently, he opened for Rufus Wainwright at the Napa Valley Opera House and appeared at the Tanglewood Jazz Festival, by the invitation of Jazz legend Marian McPartland in celebration of her 90th birthday. Day's creativity also includes composing musical theater. In 2005, he collaborated with Rafe Chase on a full-length musical, "Someday, Love," which was performed at San Francisco's New Conservatory Theater. Spencer starred in the show in addition to writing its score. There is a $40-$55 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

SAN FRANCISCO: CASSANDRA WILSON AT YOSHI'S

Jazz musician, vocalist, songwriter, and producer Cassandra Wilson will appear at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Friday & Saturday, May 16th & 17th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm as part of her Blue Light To A New Dawn Tour - 20th Anniversary Album Celebration. Originally from Jackson, Mississippi, she began playing piano at six, guitar by the age of twelve and was working as a vocalist by the mid-'70s, singing a wide variety of material. After moving to New York City in the early 80's, Cassandra met saxophonist Steve Coleman and became one of the founding members of the M-Base Collective. She signed with Blue Note Records in 1992 and released a landmark album titled "Blue Light 'Til Dawn" which would pave the way for a new generation of jazz singers seeking an approach and repertoire that challenges the supremacy of the American Standard songbook.
