NYC: FRANK TORREN - MOMENT TO MOMENT

2014 MAC AWARD nominee (Best Male Vocalist) Frank Torren will reprise his acclaimed 2013 show 'Moment to Moment' at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Sunday, May 4th at 4:00 pm; and Wednesdays, May 7th & 14th at 7:00 pm. Soon he had teamed up with his sister to perform a dance act which toured all over and even was invited to a festival in Cuba. Over the years, Frank has devoted his professional life to theater, appearing in many musical comedies including Room Service, Say Darling, The Desk Set, Reluctant Debutante, Mary Mary, and the role of Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music. He performed with Diana Sands and Julius La Rosa in the first national tour of Hallelujah, Baby; had a costarring role in Zorba with Michael Kermoyan and Vivian Blaine; performed with Ann Reinking in Anything Goes and Jan Peerce in Fiddler on the Roof; toured in the National company of Seesaw with John Raitt and Liz Torres. Now Frank Torren's autobiographical show goes into its second chapter with "Moment to Moment." NYC: A WISH ON A WEDNESDAY WITH KAREN OBERLIN & SEAN HARKNESS

Karen Oberlin & Sean Harkness will perform songs from their new Miranda Music CD 'A Wish' at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 ) on Wednesday, May 14th at 7:00 pm. A Wish, like a hope or a dream, whether simple or complex, is always personal. Yet the wishes of two artists can be expressed in one creative project like this one by Karen Oberlin and Sean Harkness. Karen had wished for years to make a duo recording with only guitar and vocals, and she found the ideal partner in Sean. When they first played together, spontaneously in an impromptu performance, they both knew they had to make an album together, or that became their great, mutual wish. Kitty Skrobela of Miranda Music, as is her way, made their dream come to life, their hope become reality, their wish come true. The fascinating, eclectic mix of extraordinary songwriters on this album, like Dorothy Fields, Paul McCartney, Fred Hersch and Joni Mitchell, unwittingly collaborated on this project as the song springboard for what these two artists wished to express. Collectively, Karen and Sean have brought to life this multi-faceted, deeply felt wish with a deliciously personal perspective on life and love. ... as if anything else matters. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Produced and directed by Tom Toce, "Living Standards" presents later entries to the Great American Songbook. Songs written by living composers and lyricists. Songs that are every bit as witty, elegant, touching, and intelligent as the Gershwin/ Kern/ Porter standards of days past. "Living Standards" will include work by the best of today's cabaret songwriters, writers such as Francesca Blumenthal, John Bucchino, Craig Carnelia, Julie Gold, and Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich, as well as songs from singer-songwriters like Christine Lavin and Anais Mitchell. Celebrity songwriters like Randy Newman and Joni Mitchell will be included as well. Some songs will be well known in the cabaret community, having achieved "standard" status through numerous recordings or industry awards. Other songs will be less well known, but in the opinion of the show's creators, equally deserving of the high status. Marissa Mulder recently won two MAC Awards, for Major Artist and for recording of the Year.
