NYC: JUDY AND LIZA TOGETHER AGAIN AT MAMA' S
Cabaret favorites Tommy Femia and Rick Skye have teamed up for another evening of "Judy and Liza Together Again" at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Saturdays, February 1st & 15th at 8:00 pm. They are joined by Ricky Ritzel (as Mort) at the piano. These MAC Award winning performers (Best Impersonation) will pull out all the stops, singing classic solo's, parodies, duets and just plain whooping and hollering by the greatest mother/ daughter team in show biz history. Tommy Femia is a 7 time winner of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) Award for his brilliant portrayal of Judy Garland in "Judy Garland LIVE!", now in it's 20th season at Don't Tell Mama. He has also starred in "Whoop-de-doo", "I Will Come Back" and, most recently, "Norma Does Men". Rick Skye is best known for writing a string of outrageous comic revues including "The Flip Side of Neil Sedaka", "MaCabaret - a tabloid fable", "The War of the Mama Roses", "It's Madame with an E" and the International hit - "A Slice O' Minnelli" for which has enjoyed successful season's in Covent Garden, at the Apollo Theatre in London's West End and at the Dublin Theatre Festival where he received the Award for "Best Achievement in Performance". There is a $25 cover charge and a 2 drink minimum.
NYC: KRISTINE MILLS SINGS NEW STANDARDS: EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN
Award-winning songwriter and vocalist Kristine Mills shares the stage with Music Director and pianist, Steve Doyle in her show "New Standards: Everything Old is New Again" at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Saturday, February 1st ar 7:00 pm. After several years of songwriting, Mills returns to her roots in Jazz. Lovingly singing only her very favorite songs, hear those that helped shape her repertoire and critically acclaimed career. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: HOW'S THIS SOUND?! (2014 REPRISE)
Composer/lyricist Matt Patrick Walsh presents a brand new rendition of his original 90-minute cabaret series, "How's This Sound?!" at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Saturday, February 1st at 9:30 pm. All songs written by Walsh along with a few collaborations with Nathan Brisby and Jordan Shavarebi. Featured cast includes: Daniel Palese, Ali Gordon, Katie Bland, Kris Howard, and Amanda Forker (as well as songs sung by Walsh at the piano). There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: ERIC YVES GARCIA AT THE LAURIE BEECHMAN
Hot off being given the Margaret Whiting Award at this year's New York Cabaret Convention, Eric Yves Garcia will be putting on a single night event showcasing his song styling and piano playing prowess at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Saturdays, February 1st & March 1st at 8:00 pm. There is a $20 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
NYC: JOHN MINNOCK AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM
John Minnock, a leading vocalist in Boston's jazz scene returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Saturday, February 1st ay 7:00 pm. Following a highly successful debut at the Metropolitan Room in September, John Minnock returns for another energetic night of Jazz & Blues. Combining great musicality, showmanship and irreverent comedy, this show is an audience favorite. With a voice described as recalling Billy Eckstein & Lou Rawls, the music often branches out to R&B, Funk, and show standards, as well as spirited jazz improvisation. With his trio, accomplished musicians from both Boston and New York, John is as at-ease with the complexities of jazz as he is with working with the band, the audience, and everything involved in an entertaining night of music. John is joined once again by pianist Bill Duffy, bassist Carlos Mena, and drummer Pablo Eluchans. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: MICHELE LEE FOR 3 PERFORMANCES AT 54 BELOW
Following her acclaimed concert "Catch the Light," this all new show finds the stunning Michele Lee making a rare appearance at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) for three nights only: Thursday, January 30th at 7:00 pm, and Friday & Saturday, January 31st & February 1st at 8:00 pm. Ms. Lee's new concert boasts an eclectic songbook, with classics she popularized as well songs from those magical composers, lyricists, and artists with whom she has worked and shared stages in every medium. A multiple Emmy and Tony-nominated actor, Michele Lee has starred in CBS's "Knots Landing" as well as such classic Broadway musicals as the original How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Seesaw. Michele is the consummate "knock 'em dead" entertainer who enthralls audiences, from stories that tickle the funnybone to ballads that cut deep into the soul. With a brilliant quintet led by arranger/conductor extraordinaire Ron Abel, Ms. Lee's engagement at 54 Below will be a fantastic night of flat out fun and stories for the ages. NYC: CHARLIE ROSEN'S BROADWAY BIG BAND
A full sized jazz orchestra composed of seventeen musicians all play bandleader Charlie Rosen's re-imagined arrangements of an eclectic mix of tunes from Broadway's past, present and beyond at54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Saturday, February 1st at 11:00 pm. Both modern and classic showtunes are on display in this hugely unique and winning evening, sung by the best and brightest of Broadway's young generation of leading performers in the timeless tradition of a big band. Featuring Nick Blaemire (Godspell, Dogfight), Tony Award Nominee Daniel Breaker (Passing Strange, Shrek: The Musical), Hannah Elless (Godspell, The Other Josh Cohen), Jason Gotay (Bring It On: The Musical, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark), Rebecca Naomi Jones (Passing Strange, American Idiot), Julia Mattison (Godspell), Andy Mientus (NBC's "Smash," Les Miserables), and Ariana DeBose (Bring It On, Motown). NYC: FRANK WILDHORN WITH JANE MONHEIT & CLINT HOLMES
Frank Wildhorn, along with Jane Monheit & Clint Holmes, will perform at THE CAFE CARLYLE (35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-744-1600) on Tuesday through Saturday, January 28th through February 1st at 8:45 pm, with an additional performance at 10:45 on Saturday, the 1st. Wildhorn is a songwriter and creator of well-known Broadway shows Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Dracula, Victor/Victoria, Wonderland, Bonnie & Clyde and The Civil War (both Tony-nominated for Best Score), as well as over fifteen original international titles that include The Count of Monte Cristo, Excalibur, Carmen, Rudolf, and Cyrano de Bergerac. With a career that spans four decades in the recording industry and theatre world, multi-Grammy and Tony Award-nominated composer/producer Frank Wildhorn has started performing again. Wildhorn will step into the musician's shoes at the piano at the iconic Café Carlyle in New York, sharing the stage with Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Jane Monheit award-winning entertainer Clint Holmes, joined by Julia Adamy on bass, Clint de Ganon on drums and David Mann on reeds. Wildhorn will take you on a musical journey of the many songs from his pop, jazz and theatre life. It all started recently with performances at the legendary jazz club Birdland and with orchestras in venues here and abroad.
