CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: KRISTINE MILLS SINGS NEW STANDARDS, THE MUSIC OF STING
Back by popular demand, Kristine Mills Sings New Standards, The Music of Sting at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, January 30th at 9:30 pm. Award-winning vocalist and songwriter, Kristine Mills is joined by bassist/arranger/composer Steve Doyle to celebrate songs either written or recorded by Sting over the past four decades. The rest of her New York City-based band includes the pianist/arranger Klaus Mueller and drummer/composer, Jacob Melchior. Sting started his career out as a jazz musician, then moved onto the music of the Police and now is creating for the Broadway stage. It seems no subject is taboo. Sting's lyrics explore the usual suspects, love, death, obsession, vampires, but then he tackles the hard stuff - murder, assassinations, cold war, exploitation of indigenous people, the environment - no subject misses his attention. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
