NYC: EDDIE SARFATY - DESPERATE FOR ATTENTION
Eddie Sarfaty will perform atTHE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - ) on Saturday, November 2nd at 7:00 pm. Sarfaty is a stand-up comedian who has appeared on Comedy Central's Premium Blend, The Today Show, The Joy Behar Show, Logo's Wisecrack and is a subject of the documentary, Laughing Matters. He is the author of Mental: Funny in the Head, a collection of humorous essays. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: LUIZ SIMAS WITH BRAZILIAN JAZZ AT THE MET
Rio-born Brazilian jazz composer/singer/pianist Luiz Simas will perform at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - ) on Saturday, November 2nd at 9:30 pm. Luiz is a genuine Carioca! A New Yorker since '89, he has led original groups in jazz festivals and clubs in the US, in Europe and in Brazil. Luiz' voice and music have warmed major venues including Birdland, the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Bargemusic. His CDs include Cafune, Impromptu, Luiz Simas Live in NYC, New Chorinhos from Brazil, Recipe for Rhythm and Mata Atlentica (Atlantic Forest) Piano Suite. He'll be joined on his new show by Ze Mauricio on percussion, Gustavo Amarante on bass and Eliane Amherd on guitar and vocals. The repertoire includes Luiz's infectious original tunes as well as a few beloved Brazilian music standards. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: SAY YOU LOVE SATAN AT THE DUPLEX
'Say You Love Satan' by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will be performed atTHE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438 - ) on Saturdays & Sundays, November 2nd & 3rd and 9th & 10th at 6:30 pm. When Andrew meets Jack, it seems to be a match made in Heaven. That is, well... until Andrew discoveres that Jack is the Son of Satan. Yes, the Satan!! Despite their differences, Andrew & Jack (once Evil, now turned good) decide to work it out. But how long will their happiness last before things go completely awry? Starring Omar Cruz, Brock Yuric, Carmen Lobue, Frank Vushaj, and Blake Merriman with a special performance by Minnie Dee as "Goodness Incarnate". Director is Eric Robertson. NYC: BILL DAUGHERTY'S "ON THE RECORD" AT STAGE 72
"ON THE RECORD", a tribute to the great vocal groups of the 20th century, is being presented at STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) on Saturdays at 3:00 pm and Sundays at 6:00 pm through mid-December. "On The Record" is a 90 minute multi-media musical chronology of some of the most influential singing groups of the past three generations performed by 4 top notch New York performers - Bill Daugherty, Paul Kropfl, Amanda Savan and Deborah Tranelli. Backed by a combo under the direction of Doyle Newmyer they'll present over 25 gems using the Original Arrangements sung in the Original Keys! From The Boswell Sisters to The Mills Brothers ... from the Four Freshman to the Chiffons ... from the Beatles to The Manhattan Transfer audiences will hear tunes that run the gamut from Barbershop to Swing to DooWop to Rock & Roll!
