CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: STEVEN CHERA WITH 'SMILE'
Steven Chera will bring his show 'Smile' to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, November 14th & Wednesday, December 11th, both shows at 7:00 pm. Chera is a singer/song stylist of traditional pop, jazz, & easy listening. Over his life-long career as a singer he has developed an eclectic range of shows featuring music from the 1930s/1940s jazz standards, 1950s rock, to the swinging hits of the 1960s & 70s. Singing since the age of 12, his first public performance was his own rendition of Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog" sung at a community event that gave the audience chills. The Brooklyn born Chera spent his early years listening and studying music legends like Nat King Cole, Bobby Darin,Frank Sinatra and of course Elvis Presley. Even though he has responsibilities of working in the family retail business he never stopped pursuing music. Lately Steven has been working on his newest album "Smile". He will be debuting "Smile" in this show. The title song "Smile" is a classic composed by Charlie Chalpin and made famous by the great Nat King Cole. Steven also does Mr. Cole's "Mona Lisa", another all time classic. He will also be performing "All The Way" and "Birth of The Blues" both made famous by Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles's "Georgia on My Mind", and "Hallelujah I Just Love Here So". You will hear many other classic tunes at the show from his new album. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
