CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: KIMBERLY HAWKEY AND "SPUN" AT THE MET
Spinning her way through songs that have appealed to the American pathos throughout history, Kimberly will present her show 'Spun' atTHE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Tuesday, July 30th at 7:00 pm. 'Spun' focuses on music that tells a story, and in the process, tells the story of the American Song. Dipping into the Great American Songbook as well as traditional folk tunes, jazz, blues, and popular music, the show is a musical tapestry of influences and styles, with forgotten songs and familiar tunes all re-imagined at the hands (and voice) of Kimberly and her partner/pianist Assaf Gleizner. Winner of the 2013 American Traditions Vocal Competition, Kimberly is recognized for her authentic song interpretation across genres.With Assaf's imaginative musical arrangements, this duo is a genre-defying powerhouse of musicianship and reinvention. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
