Tarea Anderson will perform her show "Celebrating Abbey Lincoln, Betty Carter, Carmen McRae & Soul" atBLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Tuesday, July 30th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. A unique yet familiar instrument is how audiences consider the voice of Tarea Anderson. It has an arresting tone that is saturated with soul. The versatile soprano fluctuates over and throughout the scales; while maintaining a balance of calm and intensity. She has been featured twice on the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival and The Taste of Georgetown. Back in 2004, she was the winner of 105.9 FM's Sexiest Jazz Vocalist Competition. The artists who have shared their stage with her include Najee, The James Cotton Blues Band, and the incredible Roy Ayers. Musical treasures Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Betty Carter, Al Jarreau, Dinah Washington, Sam Cooke, Chaka Khan and Phyllis Hyman are some of the artists who have influenced the vocalist the most.
