Countertenor diva, jazz singer and cabaret artiste Mama Alto (Benny Dimas) returns to THE BUTTERFLY CLUB (256 Collins Street, Melbourne, VIC, AUS - 03 96902000) on Wednesday, July 3rd at 8:00 pm; Friday, July 5th at 9:00 pm; and Sunday, July 7th at 8:00 pm to create a new interpretation of her acclaimed 2012 production Porgy & Bess Project. Accompanied by an all lady jazz trio (Tiffanni Walton, Elise Winterflood & Monique Zucco), an evocative dialogue is forged between immortal Gershwin songs and Mama Alto's unique countertenor vocals - a voice that has been described as bewitching, ethereal, and intoxicating. Mama Alto - Benny Dimas - is a songstress with a voice that transcends gender. Nicknamed Mama Alto in school choirs, this vocalist chose to embrace the sound, image and identity of a vintage torch-singing diva - with a difference. Call for cover/minimum information.
