NYC: BOSSABRASIL FESTIVAL AT BIRDLAND - FINAL SHOWS TONIGHT
In its 8th year, BossaBrasil Festival returns to BIRDLAND(315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) with multi Grammy-winning composer, guitarist and vocalist Dori Caymmi and special guest vocalist, guitarist Joyce on Tuesday through Saturday, May 14th through 18th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. The show also features Tutty Moreno (Drums), Rodolfo Stroeter (Bass), Dario Eskenazi (Piano)Following the path laid by his late father legendary Brazilian musician, Dorival Caymmi, Dori Caymmi has written for and performed with Antonio Carlos Jobim, Quincy Jones, Dionne Warwick, Gilberto Gil and Sarah Vaughan. Dori's special guest and frequent collaborator Joyce became an instant sensation for her sultry, subtle 1980 album "Feminina" which established her as one of the few Brazilian women recognized for composing as well as vocals and guitar. Produced by Pat Philips & Ettore Stratta. There is a $40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
