The first phase is urgent in nature and made up of multiple strategic strikes into the hardest hit areas of the disaster zone. These strikes entail providing access to clean water by distributing portable water filtration systems to community centers, refugee camps, and individual families in these areas. The second phase, though still providing relief, consists of expanding the program by implementing more long term solutions - such as rain-water harvesting systems on schools and medical clinics, restoring dead wells/pumps, and actively seeking out new regions of need beyond ground zero. NYC: DAN FINNERTY & THE DAN BAND AT JOE'S PUB

Dan Finnerty & The Dan Band perform at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Friday, May 1st at 7:00 pm. What started as a drunken joke for Finnerty singing I Am Woman at a karaoke bar has spiraled out of control into THE DAN BAND - a cult phenomenon that has garnered rave reviews from The New York Times, The L.A. Times, Variety, Rolling Stone among others. THE DAN BAND plays to sold out crowds from Los Angeles to New York and has appeared on numerous shows including The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ellen, The Late Late Show, Last Call with Carson Daly, Last Comic Standing, The Guys Choice Awards and caught the attention of Steven Spielberg, who signed on to executive produce Dan's one hour concert special "The Dan Band: I Am Woman," directed by McG. Finnerty, a recurring correspondent on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and former member of the group STOMP, has released two CDs, "THE DAN BAND LIVE" followed by "HO - A DAN BAND CHRISTMAS," and is currently working on a third for Comedy Central Records called "The Wedding Album." NYC: OSEKRE & THE LUCKY BASTARDS / SAHR + RICARDO: FELA AKUSTIC

Osekre & The Lucky Bastards / Sahr + Ricardo: FELA aKUsTIc perform at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Friday, May 1st at 9:30 pm. The music of Osekre and The Lucky Bastards is alive with treasuring every moment. They play a hybrid of Afropop and ska, punk, and reggae that is equally indebted to Osekre's Ghanaian heritage and the Brooklyn DIY/ garage/ indie scene that thrived in the late 2000s. SAHR + RICARDO's FELA aKUsTIc is a radical reinterpretation of the music of Afrobeat creator Fela Kuti. Fela's 15-30 piece orchestra has been stripped down to a two-piece core and the songs considerably reinvented. Along with guests musicians, the project brings together vocalist Sahr Ngaujah who was nominated for a Tony and Olivier in the lead role of the theatrical production Fela! with Ricardo Quinones who played guitar in the band for the show on Broadway and on its international tour which included and extended run in London, other European cities and a special engagement in Lagos, Nigeria, the homeland of Fela Kuti. Both artists have extensive international careers. Sahr has worked with Bill T. Jones, Gerrit Timmers in Rotterdam, Falk Ritcher of Berlin and Walter Chakela in Johannesburg. Ricardo has collaborated with many artists including Alicia Keys, Sade, India Arie, Anthony David and Luther Vandross. In August 2014 SAHR + RICARDO, who are in the process of recording material for the FELA aKUsTIc album, were the opening act for four dates on the northeast leg of Ms. Lauryn Hiil's tour. Artist Dwayne Rodgers, who most recently collaborated with fellow artist Kehinde Wiley on a video installation which has been touring museums with Wiley's World Stage Israel project, is the executive producer and creative director of FELA aKUsTIc. There is a $15 cover.
