NYC: NEW MUSICAL DISASTER "LATE WITH LANCE!" FROM "DESPERATELY SEEKING THE EXIT" CREATOR
Michael Marino's newest old creation "Late with Lance!" is back, and it will be presented at THE TRIPLE CROWN UNDERGROUND (330 7th Avenue, NYC). Meet Lance ... delusional cruise ship entertainer, celebrity stalker and pathological musical theater fanatic. After a 15-year hiatus from the cabaret world, Lance is back in town with his own brand of variety talk show. He's invited Liza Minnelli, Hugh Jackman and Miami Sound Machine to be on his show - and that's surely bound to happen. This solo show/talk show spoof with a musical theater twist features original song parodies, The Sound of Music performed in five minutes, an homage to the film Fame, and many more ridiculous surprises. Lance has suffered for his art. Now it's your turn. Peter Michael Marino is the performer and creator of Lance Jonathan's critically acclaimed cabaret spoofs "All About Me!" and "More About Me!" - which rocked the cabaret circuit in the mid-90s and led to a Backstage Bistro Award for Outstanding Achievement and a number of MAC Award nominations. He is also the creator of "Desperately Seeking the Exit" which toured the world for over two years and recounted his tale of writing the flop Blondie musical "Desperately Seeking Susan." In addition to directing dozens of solo comedies, Peter is the creator of SOLOCOM at The PIT which debuted 90 original solo comedies in November 2014. Pay-what-you-can. No reservations. NYC: GLORIA REUBEN - PERCHANCE TO DREAM
Gloria Reuben, actress, jazz singer and social activist, brings her show "Perchance to Dream" to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, April 30th at 9:30 pm. She brings with her an impressive list of credentials in television, film, theater and music. She portrayed "Elizabeth Keckley" in the Steven Spielberg film LINCOLN and starred opposite Samuel L. Jackson in REASONABLE DOUBT. Her debut Jazz album PER CHANCE TO DREAM was released on April 9th, on MCG Jazz Label. There is a $30 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Parker Krug (Elf National Tour), Nick Mason (Propaganda: The Musical), Ralph Meitzler (Piece of My Heart), Michael Matthias (Fancy Nancy's Splendiferous Christmas ), Sheldon Rogers (All the Rats and Rags) and musical director Will Shuler join to present "You Sing Like a Girl" at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Thursday, April 30th at 7:00 pm in an evening you won't want to miss. Male pop artists are phenomenal. But nothing feeds the music lover's soul quite like a sensational female pop tune. This is where "You Sing Like a Girl" comes in! In a gender-bent night full of nostalgia, our all male ensemble will bring you powerhouse hits from ladies like India Arie, Carole King, Alanis Morissette, Beyonce, and many more. NYC: EMILY WEST AT SUBCULTURE
Emily West, who's dream is to tell stories through song, performs at SUBCULTURE NYC (45 Bleaker Street, NYC) on Thursday, April 30th at 8:00 pm. After moving to Nashville at 18, she enjoyed some success as a country music artist. In search of a clean slate, she packed a bag for New York City. She was looking for a do-over, an opportunity to reinvent herself. She found her home in the clubs and theaters of Manhattan where she transfixed audiences with her one-woman show. Emily West is a musical maverick in the masquerade of pin-up perfection. Musically captivating and innovative, she knows she has been a hard case for the industry to define. Earlier this year, she made the decision to try out for America's Got Talent. It was a wise decision. West excelled on the National stage and came in second in the renowned competition - a result she hopes will allow her to play to the breadth of audience she's always wanted, and to take them with her on this exciting journey. Dennis Ferrante and The Renegades perform at THE CUTTING ROOM(44 East 32nd Street, NYC - 212-691-1900) on Thursday, April 30th at 7:30 pm. Dennis Ferrante, a Grammy award winning Engineer, has sang on many artists records including John Lennon,The Clash, Alice Cooper, Don McClean, Yoko Ono, Johnny Winter and many other artists. He also has recorded John Lennon's "Imagine" up to The Rock N' Roll" album, Kiss, Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, Rick Derringer, the Four Tops and many more. Jimmy McElligott has played with Earl Slick, Denny Laine, Gene Cornish, Simon Kirke plus members of The Hollies, Television and The Smithereens. Gary Van Scyoc was part of "The Elephant's Memory" who worked with John Lennon on his solo albums, Bo Diddley, Mick Jagger, Stevie Wonder, Keith Moon, Jerry Garcia, and Neil Sedaka. Steve Holley was part of Paul McCartney & Wings, Ian Hunter, Joe Cocker, Kiki Dee, Julian Lennon, Dar Williams, Warren Haynes and many more. There is a $20 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.
NYC: MARILYN MAYE SINGS SINATRA AT 54 BELOW IN 8 SHOW RUN
Popular vocalist Marilyn Maye performs a Sinatra-themed show at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) for 8 show, opening on Friday, April 17th at 7:00 pm with additional appearances on Saturday, April 18th at 2:00 pm; Thursday, April 23th at 7:00 pm; Friday, April 24th at 8:30 pm; Saturday, April 25th at 7:00 pm; Monday & Tuesday, April 27th & 28th at 7:00 pm; and Thursday, April 30th at 7:00 pm. Marilyn Maye is an artist for connoisseurs and her powerhouse delivery and chatty rapport with the audience is what holds the evening together and electrifies the proceedings. The aptly named production is an unabashed valentine to the late superstar, from the Super Singer that pays tribute to Sinatra's career with an immensely talented peer's interpretations of the songs that made Sinatra famous. It's a full-scale labor of love for another performer that is rarely seen from an artist of Maye's stature, and that is exactly what makes the show a must-see experience. The one-night-only 54 Below engagement will feature the talents of Vivian Reed, Luba Mason, and more, in an all-star cast of Broadway performers. They salute this sexy new musical set in the glamorous, dangerous, world of 1947 NYC nightlife. Loves and Lives are lost - to the strains of Harold Arlen's brand of Jazz, Show Biz and Blues. NYC: ETHAN LIPTON & HIS ORCHESTRA AT JOE'S PUB
Ethan Lipton & His Orchestra play an edgy brand of jazz/ folk/ alternative nosh with a chewy singer-songwriter center at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE(425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Thursday, April 30th at 7:00 pm and Wednesday, May 20th at 9:30 pm. With melancholy wit and a cockeyed worldview, sepia-toned frontman Lipton and band mates Eben Levy (guitar), Ian Riggs (bass) and Vito Dieterle (sax) deliver songs steeped in mixed-message sincerity and soul.
