With her feet firmly fixed in 1950s nostalgia, Kai Hoffman comes to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, April 29th at 9:30 pm direct from Ronnie Scott's in London with her brand new show Hot Rockin' Diva! With a selection of Kai's favourite songs from the Hot Rockin' Divas of early fifties rhythm and blues, swing, rock and roll and country, this is Kai's personal tribute to ladies like Big Mama Thornton, Rosemary Clooney, Ruth Brown, Patsy Cline and more. With her own inimitable style, Kai brings you a fun-filled show with a dash of exotica and just a peppering of kitsch, with great rockin' tunes, beautiful slow numbers and Kai's own originals - taking you on an interactive cabaret journey with the gals who made rock and roll, before the phrase was even coined. With an on-going residency at Ronnie Scott's in London, now in it's seventh year, Massachusetts-native Kai Hoffman has travelled the world, with shows ranging from the Blue Note Milano to the Elgar Room of the Royal Albert Hall, with the Sheraton Hotel Bangladesh and the European Jazz Expo in between! A cabaret compere, jazz singer, rock and roll diva and recording artist, with three studio albums under her belt, Kai also has a bit of a cheeky side: think Mae West meets Marilyn Monroe meets that very strict high school Latin teacher that you kind-of always had a crush on! Kai has been featured in countless magazine articles and radio, including Time Out London, The Stage, Classic Car Magazine, BBC Radio & Jazz FM. There is a $17.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
