NYC: NEXT NY'S TOP DRAG QUEEN CONTEST AT THE MET
Four NYC Drag Queens to fight it out on stage to be crowned 'NYC's Top Drag Queen' at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Mondays, at 9:30 pm. The six-week juried affair, hosted by the Metropolitan Room, continues for its fifth week, and through sheer talent and hopefully not a cat fight, NY's Top Drag Queen will be crowned on the finale show on Monday, May 4th, when the series will come to its ultimate climax. Judged not by looks alone but by how well they sing and entertain, the Top 6 semi-finalists are being asked to perform one disco song and one country song each. Going toe-to-toe are these six hard-working cross-dresers: Strawberry Fields, Tammy Spenks, Ruby Powers, Louvel, LeeLee Heavenly, and Julia Beaumont. The host the series for a second year is one of NYC's most famous Drag Queens, Holly Dae. Dae has been performing in NYC for the past seven years. She started her career back in Boston, and has since gone on to travel all over the US and European countries. Her quick tongue and witty comments have made her audiences laugh and cackle for years. Holly has won such awards as Entertainer of the year on Fire Island, Best Drag Queen by Get Out Magazine, Queen to Watch Out For in 2013 by Next Magazine, Best Drag show by The 2015 Glam Awards, First Runner Up at the National Miss'd America Pageant, and many more. Holly will keep these twelve vigorously pre-screened Drag Queens under control whilst they are judged by not only looks but by how well they sing and entertain. It will be a seemingly unending parade of new outfits, special guests, surprise guest judges and a mystery judge whose identity will only be revealed at the contests over-the-top finale. "New York's Next Top Drag Queen Contest" is produced by the Metropolitan Room and Joseph Macchia. The contest's permanent judges include Arsenio Amadas (Mr Eagle 2013), Frankie C. (columnist for Odyssey Magazine), and Macchia, the MAC and Bistro award-winning cabaret producer of "Cabaret Cares," "Broadway on 22nd Street" and "Boys Night Out." The mystery judge will remain "closeted" until the very end. There is a $16 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: DEAR HENRY BY ARTHUR WOOTEN, STARRING LUKE DOYLE
ASD Media & Entertainment is proud to present Dear Henry ... a charming, funny, slightly risque, and ultimately moving piece of theater, at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Monday, April 27th at 7:00 pm. In 2008 & 2009 Arthur Wooten was the humorist for the London based Magazine reFRESH. The column revolved around a man writing letters to his exasperating boyfriend, Henry, regaling readers in numerous crazy shenanigans (both sexual and non) that the two had gotten into during their relationship. reFRESH readers fell in love with Arthur and couldn't wait for the next installment of Dear Henry. Wooten became the Carrie Bradshaw of London with Brits (both gay and straight) waiting to see what the two would get into next. Ultimately each letter explained the never-ending reasons why they must end their relationship. But as we all know, sometimes breaking up is really hard to do. Now that column has become the jumping off point for this hilarious and irreverent one man show. While reexamining his colorful yet complicated relationship with his on again/off again lover Henry, Clark Compton Lowell III makes the best discovery anyone can make. He finds ... himself. ASD Media & Entertainment is an Indie company specializing in book publishing, stage, and film productions. There is a $16 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: ANN LIV YOUNG: ELEKTRA CABARET AT JOE'S PUB

Additional performances are scheduled for Wednesdays, May 6th, 13th & 20th. Ann Liv Young's creations are essentially a reflection of her life, inspired by her experiences with her dancers, family, collaborators and passerby. The ultra-personal becomes the material she molds for performance. Young's mission is to create work that is honest in its inception, creation and execution. Her work combines text, music and choreography to build scenes that set up ideas, images and relationships and then destroy them. Young's text is explicitly sexual, emotional and blunt, but it is always delivered in a manner that is not. The overt drama of her work is subdued by the realness of this text. Her work exemplifies constant contrast in all its layers. Audiences are provoked and forced to examine their role in the presentation of dance and performance. They must determine their place as supporters, mockers, posers or subjects. Ann Liv Young's work, creation process, titles and intentions are forward and literal resulting in layered, provocative, contrived and thoughtful work that breaks barriers in dance performance. There is a $15 cover.
