NYC: 65TH ANNIVERSARY TRIBUTE TO PRESTIGE RECORDS AND RUDY VAN GELDER BIRTHDAY SALUTE
The Jamison Ross Trio (Jamison Ross, drums; Yasushi Nakamura, bass; Chris Pattishall, piano) and Special Guests Mike Rodriguez, trumpet and Melissa Aldana, tenor saxophone plus host Bob Porter present a 65th Anniversary Tribute to Prestige Records and Rudy Van Gelder Birthday Salute at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Thursday through Sunday, October 30th through November 2nd with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. It has been almost two years since the 26-year-old drummer Jamison Ross took first place in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, jazz's number one spotlight for rising talent. In addition to membership in the bands of veterans like Carmen Lundy and Wess Anderson, Ross can be seen throughout the world with some of the most recognizable young talent, like Jon Batiste and Cicile McLorin Salvant. Ross' roots in jazz and gospel give him unfailing feel, passion, and thrill-inducing chops. Catch his trio in the club while you can, during our celebration of Prestige Records' 65th anniversary, before his debut album is released in early 2015. There is a $35 cover.
