Richard Holbrook returns to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Sundays, October 19th & 26th at 8:00 pm with his new show 'The Untapped Fred Astaire Revisited'. The show will pay tribute to the legendary dancer's other talents as a gifted songwriter, excellent musician, and most of all, a superb interpreter of song. Among the composers featured in this program, whose music and lyrics were introduced by Fred Astaire, are Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, George & Ira Gershwin, Jerome Kern & Dorothy Fields, Howard Dietz & Arthur Schwartz, and Harold Arlen & Johnny Mercer. Richard will be accompanied by the Tom Nelson Trio (Tom Nelson on piano; Tom Kirchmer on bass; and Peter Grant on drums). Tom Nelson is the Musical Director. Richard Barclay is the Director. NYC: LAUREN STANFORD : HELEN MORGAN IN "MORE THAN YOU KNOW"
2013 MetroStar Winner Lauren Stanford will bring Helen Morgan to life in her new show "More Than You Know" at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Sundays, October 26th and November 2nd at 9:30pm. Directed by Eric Michael Gillett with Music Direction by Mike Pettry, the show contains songs the chanteuse made famous, including Jerome Kern's "Bill" and "Why Was I Born." Stanford wrote the piece, described as a dramatic recreation of Helen Morgan's 1932 cabaret act. Since the MetroStar competition, Lauren has appeared in the MAC Award winning Amanda McBroom Project and headlined The Metropolitan Room in her solo cabaret debut called "I'm a Stranger Here Myself." There is a $10 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
NYC: T OLIVER REID: REMEMBERING HARLEM 1934
Singer and Broadway star T. Oliver Reid leads what he describes as "a club hopping journey through the swanky clubs and low down joints of 1934 Harlem," at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, October 19th at 7:00 pm. He will be featuring the music of Duke Ellington, Harold Arlen, Andy Razaf, and more. In this new show, Reid performs each number with the unmistakable dramatic flair of a musical theater veteran, and he also provides an overview of the clubs, musicians, and social context of the music. Funny, informative, and a consummate showman, Reid will transport you back to the heyday of iconic venues like the Cotton Club. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

On Sunday, October 26th at 7:00 pm, 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551 - ) presents 'Sondheim Unplugged', a celebrated New York event since 2010, the Bistro Award-winning series Sondheim Unplugged features some of Broadway and cabaret's most dynamic voices, accompanied by piano only. Expect tunes from A Little Night Music, Company, Into the Woods, Follies, Passion, Dick Tracy and more. Past special guests have included original Sondheim cast members such as Len Cariou, Victoria Mallory, Donna McKechnie & Chip Zien - so you never know who might drop in. Sondheim Unplugged is hosted by series creator Phil Geoffrey Bond, who will fill the audience in on Sondheimien facts, history & assorted tidbits of theatrical lore! 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551 ) salutes the artistry of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, the celebrated composer who has left an indelible mark on Broadway, the West End & popular music on Sunday, October 26th at 9:30 pm. Cats. The Phantom of the Opera. Evita. Jesus Christ Superstar. Starlight Express. Sunset Boulevard. Aspects of Love. Song & Dance ... the list goes on. Featuring a rotating cast of some of Broadway and cabaret's best, Aspects of Andrew runs the gamut from the humor of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and By Jeeves, to the high-flying (adored) diva tunes that populate some of the most beloved musicals of the past half century. Turbans, masked deformity, roller skates, singing felines, love-starved hat designers, Mary Magdalene ... expect it all at Aspects of Andrew.
