NYC: RICHARD PRYOR JR. AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Richard Pryor Jr. will perform at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, April 5th at 7:00 pm. Born in Peoria, Illinois, on April 10, 1962, at only 6 months, the first-born son of Richard Pryor and his first wife, Patricia Watts, had to stay in the hospital for several weeks until he reached 5 pounds - and he was so small, his parents had to buy doll socks to fit his feet. Raised by his mother and grandparents - his dad being away on tour for 3 years - Richard attended public school in Peoria and spent summers with his father. As a child, he would introduce his father's shows, an opportunity that led the way to his love of performing. While in grade school, Richard became interested in music, so he took up the trombone but soon found that blowing his own horn caused his lips to itch, so in sixth grade he switched to drama class and has been performing, in one way or another, ever since. Upon graduation in 1980, Richard headed for Los Angeles, joined the Screen Extras Guild, and did "extra" work on his father's films and productions: He was a production associate on The Color Purple and even dabbled in stand-up comedy, working at The Comedy Store in Hollywood, one of his father's old haunts. His mother, Patricia Price, died in 2003, and in 2005, when his comedic icon and award-winning father died of a heart attack, Richard decided to expand on everything he had been working for: As a tribute to his father, this talented singer and actor decided to re-launch his career. Richard has recorded with various gospel groups in the Midwest such as the Sounds of Deliverance and Voices of Refuge. Mr. Pryor had a lead role at the Sage Theater in the musical "Socks" playing the lead Gym-sock. He has performed in several productions in the International Cringe Festival. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: GERARD SALVADOR AT THE DUPLEX

Gerard will entertain with an evening of songs and stories about growing up in Queens, attending the Fame school, and singing ABBA tunes on Broadway. Musical direction by Steven Ray Watkins, directed by Amy Wolk. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

MANHATTAN: THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND

After sold out runs in 2009 & 2010, Thank You For Being A Friend returns to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) for its third limited-run engagement. Performances are Thursday & Friday, April 3rd & 4th at 7:00 pm & Sunday, April 6th at 9:30 pm. This unauthorized musical parody inspired by the beloved TV sitcom "The Golden Girls," features book by Nick Brennan, music by Jeff Thomson, and lyrics by Luke Jones and Cisco Cardenas. In the show four women over 60 (Blanchette, the varicose-veined vixen; Dorthea, the brainy ball-buster; Roz, the lovable airhead; and Sophie, the wisecracking spitfire) are spending their golden years together in a wicker-filled bungalow in Miami. But when gay pop superstar Ricky Martin moves next door, his loud outdoor sex parties keep the quartet of cheesecake-loving retirees awake. The solution pits the gays against the girls at the annual Shady Oaks Retirement Home Talent Show: if the women win, then no more sex parties; if the gays garner top prize, the sassy seniors must serve as the party's clean-up crew. Singing, dancing and hilarity ensues! This newly revised production will feature original cast members Chad Ryan, Luke Jones, and Nick Brennan with newcomer John De Los Santos. The production team features Jonathan Pennington (Director), Cisco Cardanez (Assistant Director/Stage Manager), John De Los Santos (Choreographer), Luke Jones and Nick Brennan (Set Design), Timothy Hart (Lighting), Jessa-Raye Court (Costumes) and Doug Repetti (Sound). There is a $20 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum. Reservations athttps://web.ovationtix.com/trs/pr/929670
