NYC: QUEEN ELLA & BAND AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Known for her incomparable and captivating performances, two time Apollo winner Queen Ella, born Queenella Nicole Gibson, is a full-time recording singer/songwriter with ambition. Unemployed since July of 2009, the rebellious red-head Queen Ella decided to put aside her career in International Business to pursue her career in music. Queen Ella has performed for venues such as the Metropolitan Room (NY), Village Underground (NY), The Shrine (NY), and The Apollo Theater (NY); just to name a few. Queen Ella can deliver anything from Beyonce to Chaka Khan to Hendrix and everything in between including original material! NYC: CANDY ON THE KEYS AT THE DUPLEX

Songwriting sensation, drag phenomenon, Candy Samples is back atTHE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE(61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) with the next edition of her monthly show on Saturday, April 12th at 7:00 pm. With her sweet Southern demeanor, evening gloves and enchanting stage presence, drag star Candy Samples always making her audience feel right at home. Now the songwriting chanteuse brings a new installment of her song-filled show, Candy on the Keys, to The Duplex Cabaret Theatre. Hear Candy belt her signature classics -- including "Green Bean Casserole," "If I Had Only Left (Two Shots Earlier)" and "Tap Tap," inspired by the Larry Craig sex scandal -- along with her latest single, "Queen of the Bears," which has quickly gotten notice, reaching coverage in Bear World Magazine and beyond. NYC: THE SCREW YOU REVUE AT THE DUPLEX

EEEK! A MOUSICAL! will be presented at STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) on Saturdays in April and May at 11:00 am. This musical fable is brought up to date in a fun & lively show for all ages. Bara, our City Mom (Julia Menn) is finding the hectic pace of life a little bit frustrating, with all the new technology and longs for an escape to the Country to visit her sister, Clarisa (Vicki Oceguera) and her family. A few hours proves to be all the Peace & Quite this gang can take! And, when the country mice go to the city they find the throngs of people and honking horns are a little too frightening! NYC: MATT YEE'S OUTRAGEOUS ADULT SING ALONG

Matt Yee, that wonderfully funny Entertainer, Artist, Comedian from Hawaii, & evidence that "Asian Men Are Huge" brings his Outrageous Adult Sing Along Show to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Saturday & Sunday, April 12th & 13th at 7:00 pm. Speakeasy Moderne's Cabaret will be presented at CUTTING ROOM (44 East 32nd Street, NYC - 212-691-1900) on Saturday, April 12th at 10:00 pm. The show features Broadway star Jennifer Sanchez (Ghost The Musical, Spiderman), Soul Vocalists Dina Fanai (Trans Siberian Orchestra) and World burlesque star Puss N Boots. NYC: STEVE KAZEE RETURNS TO 54 BELOW

Steve Kazee, 2012 Tony Award winner for his performance as Guy in Once, returns to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Friday & Saturday, April 11th & 12th at 8:00 pm with an added late show on Saturday at 11:00 pm. After sold out summer and Christmas engagements, Steve brings his original alt-country songs, inspired by his southern upbringing and featured on his debut album, back to the stage. Audiences will also get to hear the songs Steve originated in Once on Broadway, live. In addition to winning the 2013 Grammy for Musical Theater Album for Once, Broadway has embraced Steve in roles including Sir Lancelot in Monty Python's Spamalot, Starbuck opposite Audra McDonald in Roundabout's 110 in the Shade, To Be or Not to Be at MTC, and Edward Albee's Seascape. NYC: JAY LEONHART DUO AT BIRDLAND

The Jay Leonhart Duo will perform at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Saturdays, in April at 6:00 pm. Combining the skills of an old school entertainer and virtuoso jazz man, bassist, vocalist and composer Jay Leonhart has been a fixture of the New York scene for over forty years. When Jay was fourteen he started playing the bass in The Pier Five Dixieland Jazz Band in Baltimore and never looked back. After studying at The Peabody Institute, Jay attended The Berklee School of Music and The Advanced School of Contemporary Music in Toronto, before leaving school to start touring with the traveling big bands of the late 50's and early 60's. Upon moving to New York, Jay eventually began playing for many of the great jazz musicians, big bands, and singers who were to be found in New York - artists like Thad Jones and Mel Lewis, Tony Bennett, Marian McPartland, and Jim Hall. Jay became a very busy studio musician in New York City, visiting every musical genre from James Taylor to Ozzy Osbourne and Queen Latifah. Between 1975 and 1995 he was named The Most Valuable Bassist in the recording industry three times by the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences. Jay has now recorded 15 solo albums. His first one-man show "The Bass Lesson" is being received warmly by critics and audiences. Jay's next show "Nukular Tulips" is in the works. There is a $30 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: JANE MONHEIT WITH THE MSM BIG BAND

Jane Monheit with The MSM Big Band will perform at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Tuesday, April 8th through Saturday, April 12th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. In just over fifteen years, critically acclaimed jazz vocalist Jane Monheit's honey-smooth vocals, silky phrasing and natural knack for storytelling have earned her two Grammy nominations and established her as one of her generation's most beloved and accomplished vocalists. Jane returns to Birdland for her first ever engagement as a vocalist fronting a big band. Providing those classic vocal accompaniment sounds are members of (Jane's Alma Mater) the Manhattan School of Music Big Band. There is a $40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: GARY BURTON & MAKOTO OZONE DUETS

Gary Burton, vibraphone and Makoto Ozone, piano join forces to present an evening of duets at THE BLUE NOTE(131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Tuesday through Sunday, April 7th through 13th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. Gary Burton is an American jazz vibraphonist. Burton developed a pianistic style of four-mallet technique as an alternative to the prevailing two-mallet technique. This approach caused him to be heralded as an innovator and his sound and technique are widely imitated. He is also known for pioneering fusion jazz and popularizing the duet format in jazz, as well as being a major figure in jazz education due to his 30 years at the Berklee College of Music. Makoto Ozone is a Japanese jazz pianist. He began playing organ at two and by seven was an improviser. He appeared on Japanese television with his father from 1968 to 1970. At twelve he switched to piano after being impressed by albums by Oscar Peterson. In 1980 he entered the Berklee College of Music and later worked with Gary Burton. He also had his debut in 1983 before returning to his native Japan. There is a $20-$35 cover.

NYC: JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER'S DAVE BRUBECK FESTIVAL: BRUBECK INSTITUTE JAZZ QUINTET 2013-2014

The Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet 2013-2014 will perform at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Thursday, April 10th and Saturday, April 15th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm as part of Jazz at Lincoln Center's Dave Brubeck Festival. The members of the Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet (BIJQ) have won numerous DownBeat Student Music Awards for Best Collegiate Jazz Group in the country. Touring regularly throughout the United States, the 2013-2014 BIJQ members are Max Boiko, trumpet; Joel Ross, vibraphones; Sean Britt, guitar; Sarah Kuo, bass; and Jalon D'Mere Archie, drums. The quintet will be joined by special guests Joe Gilman (piano) and Patrick Langham (saxophone) on April 10, and Stefon Harris (vibraphone) on April 12. There is a $35 cover.
