CABARET TONIGHT IN LONDON: SALENA JONES AND HER SEXTET AT THE PHEASANTRY
American jazz and cabaret singer Salena Jones will perform at THE PHEASANTRY (152-154 King's Road, London SW3 4UT - 08456 027 017) on Wednesday & Thursday, April 9th & 10th at 8:30 pm. She will be joined on stage by Will Bartlett (piano), Matt Ridley (bass), Patrick Davey (drums), Richard Shepherd (saxophones), Martin Shaw (trumpet/flugelhorn), Hugh Wilkinson (percussion). Salena was born Joan Elizabeth Shaw in Newport News, Virginia, the same home town as Ella Fitzgerald. Jones said, "I loved Sarah Vaughan so much and adored Lena Horne's elegance; I put them together as 'Salena.' It looked good. And I kept Joan in 'Jones.'" And that's how Salena Jones was born."
