Benoit Viellefon presents his Pocket Band at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Friday, April 11th at 10:30 pm. The Pocket Band is inspired by the cool music that emerged from the American bars and nightclubs of the 1940s & 50s. Benoit has always been a huge fan of the infamous Nat King Cole trio - the revolutionary 1940s group that replaced the standard big band format with a crew of three virtuosos playing and singing harmonies. He has taken core members of his Orchestra to rearrange and recreate their vast repertoire in his own inimitable style. The music embraces hot swing, blues & trad numbers as well as beautiful ballads, from the late Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday to Chet Baker. Call for cover/minimum information.
