NYC: RACHEL HUNDERT - IF I HAD WINGS
Rachel Hundert, with Eric Martin, brings her show 'If I Had Wings' to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Saturday, January 18th at 7:00 pm. The show features music from Stephen Schwartz, Jason Robert Brown, David Shire, MIKA, Leonard Cohen and more with exciting original arrangements. Rachel Hundert will stand on the ledge of life in order to explore the ways in which we travel from one moment to the next. How do we keep moving on? How do we find the courage to jump through vulnerability and off of the proverbial edge? IF I HAD WINGS is a show about taking risks, taking chances and the music that lives in that space of deciding whether or not to spread your wings and ... fly. NYC: JEFFERY & COLE: OLDER AND WISER AT THE DUPLEX
After a completely sold-out run last summer, internet comedy duo Jeffery Self and Cole Escola bring their smash hit live comedy show back to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) for five performances only, on Thursday & Friday, January 8th & 10th, plus Thursday through Saturday, January 16th thrpugh 18th, all shows at 9:30 pm. "Jeffery & Cole: Older and Wiser" is the first time Jeffery and Cole have performed together since their cult favorite TV show "Jeffery & Cole Casserole" was cancelled three years ago. Part sitcom, part sketch show, and part depressing orgy, "Jeffery & Cole: Older and Wiser" is the kind of show that makes you feel like you're a part of something special. NYC: THE CAROLE BAYER SAGER PROJECT: ALBUM ONE
On Saturday, January 18th at 7:00 pm, 'The Carole Bayer Sager Project: Album One' will be presented at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438). Between 1977 and 1981, the iconic Carole Bayer Sager released three albums of collaborations with Peter Allen, Melissa Manchester, Bette Midler, Marvin Hamlisch and many others. This performance is a loving recreation of the 10 perfect pop songs included on her first album, "CAROLE BAYER SAGER" (1977). Featuring Crystal Rona Peterson, with Jenny Selig and Micah Bucey as "The Carolettes", under the musical direction of Michael Conley, created and directed by Thom Fogarty for 360REPCO. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: LE SCANDAL CABARET CONTINUES AT THE BEECHMAN
NYC's longest running burlesque variety show, LE SCANDAL CABARET, continues on Saturdays, at 10:30 pm at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909). In its ninth year, Le Scandal features variety acts, circus performers, live music and a bevy of burlesque beauties. New performers every week! NYC: SAM HARRIS: HAM
Following a triumphant 2013 run, Sam Harris returns to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) for four shows only, this time celebrating the release of his brand new book, HAM: Slices of a Life (Gallery Books/Simon & Schuster). Performances are Wednesday & Thursday, January 15th & 16th at 7:00 pm; and Friday & Saturday, January 18th & 19th at 8:00 pm. This show of the same title is what Sam calls a "liter-usical": a hybrid theatrical show featuring excerpts from the book, artfully interspersed with songs from his classic repertoire. Harris is a multi-million selling recording artist and has starred on Broadway, on television and in concert for nearly three decades. His powerhouse voice and rare talent for redefining the vast American Songbook defines him as one of this generation's most distinguished performers. There is a $35-$55 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
NYC: WILLIAMSTOWN THEATRE FESTIVAL CABARET WITH TONY NOMINEE KATE BALDWIN & JESSICA HECHT
For 60 years, the Tony Award-winning Williamstown Theatre Festival has been Broadway's summer home, where renowned stars of stage and screen work alongside America's next generation of up and comers. This January, for the first time ever, the Festival's legendary, irrepressible Late-Night Cabaret brings some Berkshire summer to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551). For four nights only, a revolving company of Williamstown all-stars will take the stage recreating the off-the-cuff, post-performance atmosphere that has become a WTF trademark. Helmed by longtime WTF music director Kris Kukul, these impromptu celebrations of laughter and song will chase away the winter blues with a healthy dose of summer fun!
