Musical prodigy Jessy J will perform at BLUES ALLEY(1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Wednesday, July 24th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Jessy began her journey on the piano at age four, and she enjoyed an active career as a competitive artist, traveling to perform at major conferences, competitions, and festivals. By the age of 15 Jessy was named Piano State Champion, at the Bela Bartok festival in California. At the same time Jessy was also enjoying a successful saxophone career, performing in many state honor bands, including the Grammy Band, and international festivals like the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Fluent in Spanish, the Samba rhythms of Cannonball Adderley's collaborations with Sergio Mendez awakened her Latin Roots. The "sound of the music" called to her and encouraged her to explore. As a teen she studied the recordings of Cannonball Adderley and a lifelong love affair with Jazz began. Call for cover/minimum information.
