SF CABARET TONIGHT : THE COUP PLUS RAW-G AT YOSHI'S
Revolutionary musical collective The Coup and Raw G, notorious for passionate flow and deep poetry are joined on Sunday, July 21st at 8:00 pm ay YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600). The Coup's new album Sorry To Bother You is available now via Anti- Records. The Coup consists of vocalist-writer and activist Boots Riley accompanied by a versatile cadre of musicians. Sorry To Bother You is an audacious new work by a visionary band. The tracks merge danceable beats, punk urgency and the astute social commentary of hip-hop to craft a refreshingly unique sound that draws from the past but never sounds anything but futuristic. Blending Hip Hop culture with a revolutionary state of mind, Raw G was born and raised in GDL City, Mexico and Raw G was dealt a great deal of struggle at a young age. After losing her father, she began expressing her feelings of pain through writing, and began identifying to such artists like KRS-One, 2Pac and the Fugees, relating to the harsh reality depicted in their music. She is currently participating in community events while recording a studio album which will be released in 2013. There is a $26 cover.
