BOSTON: ANTHONY DAVID: SIMPLE MAN SUMMER TOUR

Anthony David's 'Simple Man Summer Tour' comes to THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel (1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757) on Wednesday, August 6th at 7:30 pm. In a time where genres and categories bleed into one another and morph into new hybrids, there will always be a space for the pure singer/songwriter who can address real life emotions in real time. Men will always need someone to express their emotive side, and women will always need to hear it. Humans will always need to feel, and artists are here to identify those feelings and paint pictures of sound with them. SInce the release of his first album in 2004, Anthony David has consistently been the man for that job, and has continually pushed forward and expanded. Currently in production for his fourth studio album, titled "Love Out Loud", Anthony David constantly pushes the boundaries, and broadens peoples expectation from both him, and the community he represents. There is a $25 cover.

TORONTO: YOUNG ARTIST SERIES: AARON ZUKEWICH

Aaron Zukewich, musician and composer, will appear at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Tuesday & Wednesday, August 5th & 6th at 6:00 pm as part of the clubs Young Artist series. Aaron grew up playing his Grandmother's piano in Niagara Ontario. He attended Grimsby secondary School, where under the guidance of inspirational music teacher Mark Saresky, he decided to pursue music studies at University. It was also at this time that he first began studying alto saxophone with local jazz saxophonist Harry Garber and found a passion for jazz music. In working towards a music preformance degree from York University Aaron was privaledged to study with two of Canada's top jazz talents, Mike Murley and Kelly Jefferson; and had opportunity to play in a variety of ensembles on saxophone and piano, including York's jazz orchestra, Wind Symphony and Latin Ensemble. Through these he studied and performed with many great musicians, and was especially influence by Kevin Turcotte and Lorne Lofsky. In addition to his solo piano work, Aaron put together the "Hands Together Tio", a Niagara Based jazz group that performs his original, contemporary compositions. No cover charge.

TORONTO: DAVID DIAO & EWEN FARNCOMBE AT THE JAZZ BISTRO

David Diao, a saxophonist, flautist and composer residing in Toronto and pianist Ewen Farncombe will perform atTHE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Wednesday, August 6th at 8:00 pm as part of August's "Young Artist Spotlight Series". Daio is currently in his third year of music studies at Humber College. David focuses his music works within the genre of contemporary & modern jazz, but is also heavily influenced Latin, funk and neo-soul music. Originally born and raised in Beijing China, David moved to Canada at a young age, and began his interests of perusing a music career when he was accepted into the Etobicoke School of the Arts in 2008, while attending the Humber College Community Music School for jazz & contemporary music studies. It was during his time at Humber where he studied with some of the best Canadian Jazz musicians like, Brian Dickinson, Kirk McDonald and Loren Lofsky David enrolled in Humber's Bachelor Music program in 2011, where he currently studies with notable Canadian Musicians like Robi Botos, Kirk McDonald and Pat LaBarbera. Born in Toronto, Ewen Farncombe has studied piano since the age of 14 - with an earlier musical history that included guitar, saxophone, and flute. While at Rosedale Heights, he joined a number of musical groups and enjoyed visiting New Orleans, meeting Doc Adams and hearing Jeff Beck and Ron Carter, among others. Ewen has studied formally with Steve Koven, and presently with Brian Rudolf. He loves improvising and has played in ensemble workshops that included Kirk MacDonald, Lorne Lofsky, and Barry Romberg. His musical horizons continue to expand and he is currently into composition and transcription. He loves all musical genres and is intrigued by musical theory, from its roots in the western tradition, to the very different customs of other cultures. There is an $8 cover.
