WASH. DC: JAZZ AT THE ATLAS PRESENTS THE MICHAEL FORMANEK QUARTET TONIGHT
The ATLAS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (1333 H Street NE, Washington, DC - 202-399-7993 ) presents the Michael Formanek Quartet on Wednesday, June 12th at 8:00 pm as part of the DC Jazz Festival. Bassist Michael Formanek's approach as a composer and bandleader has led to an impressive range of musical associations and accolades including Five Stars in Down Beat Magazine. He has performed with Elvis Costello, Freddie Hubbard, Chet Baker, Fred Hersch, Mingus Big Band, and more. Formanek is also the Director of the Peabody Conservatory's Jazz Orchestra. His quartet includes Tim Berne, Jacob Sacks and Gerald Cleaver.
