NYC: CYRUS CHESTNUT'S BERKLEE SEXTET TONIGHT AT DIZZY'S
Cyrus Chestnut's Berklee Sextet (Cyrus Chestnut, piano; Edmar Colon, saxophones; Joseph Streater, trumpet/fluegelhorn; Ido Meshulam, trombone; Tabari Lake, bass; John Lee, drums) performs at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Monday, June 10th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. Cyrus Chestnut's Berklee Sextet is an audition-based ensemble course at Berklee College of Music, dedicated to the sextet music of the acclaimed pianist and composer Cyrus Chestnut. The course features a semester of intensive performance work on Chestnut's compositions, culminating in performances in Washington, DC and New York City, with Chestnut leading the band from the piano. Though Chestnut has a reputation for mixing styles, audiences at Dizzy's can expect to hear jazz with a gospel influence, performed by the legendary pianist and five of Berklee's most accomplished students.
