DC: LEONARD BROWN & JOYFUL NOISE AT BOHEMIAN CAVERNS TONIGHT ONLY
Leonard Brown & Joyful Noise will perform at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) on Thursday, June 13th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Dr. Brown will be toting his soprano and tenor saxophones and arsenal of melodic and thrilling compositions. Brown produces one of the most uniquely engaging sounds you will hear from the saxophone. Through decades of performances, Brown has shared the stage with jazz legends Yusef Lateef, George Coleman, Pharoah Sanders, Ed Blackwell, and McCoy Tyner, amongst others. Dr. Brown, the professor, has dedicated much of his professional career to forwarding the study of world music and jazz in particular. Brown is co-founder and producer of the annual John Coltrane Memorial Concert, which will celebrate in 2012 its 35th consecutive year celebrating Coltrane's legacy. He also served as principal cultural historian to the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City. Brown has been recognized has hailed for his significant and broad contributions to jazz as educator and artist. Call for cover/minimum information.
