NYC: THE RAVI COLTRANE QUARTET AT BIRDLAND THROUGH SATURDAY
The Ravi Coltrane Quartet (Ravi Coltrane - saxes, Adam Rogers - guitar, Dezron Douglas - bass, Johnathan Blake - drums) performs at BIRDLAND(315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Tuesday through Saturday, June 11th through 16th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. He may bear the name of jazz royalty, but saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, the son of the legendary John Coltrane and pianist Alice Coltrane, performs an original and distinctly modern strain of jazz. His latest Blue Note Records CD, "Spirit Fiction," was produced by label mate and fellow saxophonist Joe Lovano. Call for cover/minimum information.
