NYC: JIM CARUSO & BILLY STRITCH TOGETHER AT BIRDLAND AT LAST
For the first time in their eleven-year association with BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080), Jim Caruso and Billy Stritch will storm the historic stage with an evening of swinging standards, special guests and wry conversation. This historic performance will take place at 7:00 pm on Monday, August 11th, The two performers,who have performed extensively on their own, gained national exposure together as the host and musical director of the wildly popular open mic, Cast Party, which celebrates talent every Monday at Birdland, tours nationally, and was part of this season's Lincoln Center American Songbook. For the past two years, they have been headlining at Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel, where they are constantly in the news when showbiz heavy-hitters like Liza Minnelli, Bono and Michael Feinstein join them in impromptu performances. There is a $30-$40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
NYC: ANGELA JOHNSON WITH CD RELEASE SHOW AT THE BLUE NOTE
Angela Johnson will appear at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Monday, August 11th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm to celebrate the release of her latest CD. After nearly 20 years in the music industry, a decisive moment has happened for triple threat singer/ songwriter/ producer Angela Johnson, the First Lady of Purpose Music Group. No longer the girl next door or the superwoman who thought she had to be super to be extraordinary, here is Angela Johnson unfiltered, unvarnished and definitely un-bossed. The title of her sixth solo album, Naturally Me, says it all, since Johnson wrote, composed, and produced every single song on this intimate ten-track release. Throughout, Johnson is a woman claiming her power and sharing her thoughts and feelings about matters of serious import, from politics and social injustice to motherhood and relationships of the real, not manufactured kind.
