NYC: GERARD SALVADOR AT THE DUPLEX

Mamma Mia's Gerard Salvador makes his solo cabaret debut at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Sunday, August 10th at 7:00 pm. Gerard will entertain with an evening of songs and stories about growing up in Queens, attending the Fame school, and singing ABBA tunes on Broadway. Musical direction by Steven Ray Watkins, directed by Amy Wolk. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: PIA ZADORA AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Golden Globe winner, Grammy nominee, ShowWest winner, accomplished singer, film and Broadway star Pia Zadora will perform at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) for 5 nights in Augusts. Performance dates are Tuesday, Wednesday & Saturday, August 5th, 6th & 9th at 7:00 pm; Thursday, August 7th at 9:30 pm; and Sunday, August 10th at 4:00 pm. Performing since the age of six, for those who have seen her in concert, what comes to mind first, and describes this multi-talented performer is simply this: Pia Zadora is the complete entertainer. Pia's career began on Broadway with Tallulah Bankhead after she was discovered while studying acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Art. This success led to a number of Broadway shows including a two-year stint as Tevye's youngest daughter in Fiddler On The Roof with Zero Mostel; the Broadway stage version of The World of Henry Orient; and featured roles in Applause, Promises Promises, The Sound Of Music, Little Mary Sunshine, Funny Girl, Damn Yankees, Crazy for You and Dames At Sea. Pia also appeared on television in The Nurses, The Defenders, Ed Sullivan, and The Perry Como Show. Later she appeared in the feature films with Orson Welles in The Lonely Lady, with Stacy Keach in Butterfly, Hairspray and Naked Gun 33 1/3rd: The Final Insult. There is a $35 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: SETSUKO AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Setsuko, a Japanese singer songwriter involved in Pop, R&B, jazz, theater, and classical, will appear at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, August 10th at 9:00 pm. Born in Osaka, Japan on July 21st, 1985, Setsuko fell in love with music early in her childhood, and spent much of her adolescence singing and dancing for friends and relatives. While studying diet and nutrition in Osaka City University, Setsuko joined various clubs associated with both music and dance where she eventually found the motivation to pursue a professional career in music. After gaining a small following in the university scene, Setsuko wrote her first Japanese language song "Catch the Future" at the age of 19. She then began booking performances for herself at local clubs in the Osaka area, while at the same time learning the fundamentals of music production and promotion. In July 2006, Setsuko produced and starred in her first solo performance at Flamingo the Arusha, one of Osaka's premiere live venues. Setsuko's last solo show in Japan was held in April 2011 at Laurence in Osaka, and in August 2011 she moved to New York City to establish herself professionally in the American and global markets. Setsuko released her first English language single "Mr. Right" in July 2012. In July 2013 Setsuko released her second single "If You Believe in Yourself" . The official music video of both "Mr. Right" and "If You Believe in Yourself" were released shortly thereafter. Setsuko is currently working on her first album , which will be released in 2014 autumn. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: 54 SINGS THE WIZ

54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) celebrates the tornadic score of THE WIZ on Sunday, August 10th with performances at 7:00 & 9:30 pm.! The show is directed by After Midnight's T. Oliver Reid and features a cast of some of Broadway's best. Starring: Ken Page, Alton Fitzgerald White, Kingsley Leggs, Vivian Reed, Adriane Lenox, Terry Burrell, Kecia Lewis, Christina Sajous, Ashley M. Stroud, Kenita R. Miller, N'Kenge, Eleasha Gamble, Rashidra Scott, Mariand Torres, Virginia Woodruff, Gregory Haney, Rema Webb and Danielle Herbert. There is a $50 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: MARK JANAS' SALON: IN AND/OR OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

SALON - that unique, Multiple Award Winning, Weekly Open Mic Event, created and hosted by Mark Janas continues atETCETERA ETCETERA(352 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-399-4141) on Sundays from 7:00 to 10:30 pm (sign-up begins at 6:15 pm). The optional theme for Sunday evening August 10th is "In and/or Out of Your Comfort Zone". Co-Host is Tracy Stark. In the Xalon Spotlight: Jason Morris. Remember, any material, on or off theme, is always welcome at Salon. There are no reservations; seating is on a first come/ first served basis, with one intermission. There is a $10 cash cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
