NYC: BARRET IS BACK ON RESTAURANT ROW
Chris Barrett returns to LA RIVISTA RISTORANTE (313 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-366-4603) on Monday, May 19th, where he will be at the piano Mondays through Wednesdays. There are two shows nightly, a dinner show at 8:00 and a supper show at 10:00 pm. Chris Barrett's performances are in the tradition of the great late-night boites of a fondly remembered era, when the likes of Hugh Shannon, Bobby Short, and Buddy Barnes manned the keyboard. There is no cover charge.
NYC: JUDY TENUTA AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM
Stage, Television and Comedy Star Judy Tenuta will perform at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Tuesday & Wednesday, July 1st & 2nd at 7:00 pm. Judy is a triple threat in the sense that she has strong stage, television, comedy and film credits with a large fan base. She has appeared in" The Vagina Monologues", "Menopause the Musical" both in LA and Chicago, and she's had her own stand-up specials on Showtime, HBO and Lifetime. Judy was the first female stand-up comic to win "Best Female Comedian" at the American Comedy Awards and is a two-time Grammy nominee for her comedy CD'S, "Attention Butt-Pirates" and "Lesbetarians!" and "In Goddess We Trust". That same year, she became the national spokesperson for a series of Diet Dr. Pepper commercials. In addition to her presence on stage and television, Tenuta has also appeared in many film and recently completed 2 independent films. Tenuta is a strong advocate for gays, children and women's issues, the fun-loving feminist preaches that all women should be worshipped as "Love Goddesses!" There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: ARLO HILL: I'VE BEEN IN LOVE BEFORE: THE SONGS AND STORIES OF FRANK LOESSER
Arlo Hill, a winner of the 2014 Lotte Lenya Competition, shares the little-known songs and stories of Frank Loesser at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesday, July 2nd at 7:00 pm. . 'I've Been in Love Before: The Songs and Stories of Frank Loesser' goes behind the scenes with the man who wrote Guys & Dolls, How to Succeed in Business, and much, much more. A brash college dropout journeys from the back rooms of the Tin Pan Alley to the silver screen of Hollywood to the Great White Way - and through two marriages, five Broadway shows, and over 700 songs of life and love. Come to discover the joys of Loesser's music, and to explore the little-known gems that are too rarely in the limelight. Music direction by Rick Hip-Flores Special appearances by members of the cast of The Most Happy Fella at Encores! There is a $25-$50 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
NYC: SWEET DREAMS IN CONCERT AT 54 BELOW
Sweet Dreams in Concert, starring Justin Matthew Sargent & Rebecca Faulkenberry, will be presented at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesday, July 2nd at 9:30 pm. Sweet Dreams is a modern day retelling of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream told through the unforgettable music of Air Supply and narrated by their singer-songwriter and guitarist, Graham Russell. Set in modern day New York City, the show features sixteen of Air Supply's greatest hits as well as several brand new songs written by Graham Russell. The 54 Below performance will be a concert version of the show's musical numbers, strung together with brief narration, directed by Matthew DiCarlo and will feature current and former Broadway all-stars, including Justin Matthew Sargent (Spider-Man, Rock of Ages), Rebecca Faulkenberry (Spider-Man, Rock of Ages), Mitchell Jarvis (Rock of Ages, Fiddler on the Roof), Sam Underwood (TV's Dexter, The Following), Jason Wooten (Jekyll & Hyde, Hair), Ben Thompson (American Idiot, Matilda), Natalie Roy (TV's The Following), Christina DeCicco (Spider-Man, Evita), Jeigh Madjus (Here Lies Love), Howie Michael Smith (Avenue Q), William Blake (MAC, Bistro & NY Nightlife Award winner), Tony LePage (Rock of Ages), Gavin Lodge (Spamalot, Annie), Jessica Lee Goldyn (A Chorus Line), Cassie Silva (Rock of Ages), Charles Stevens, Katie Ivie, Wade Walton, Lana Stevens, Katie McGhie, Jamie Kolnick, and Brent Wakelin.
